What Do You Learn From Animals?
Hi there,
It seems like many of you really love animals, me too! I wondered if we could share what animals teach you in life?
For me, they teach me how to be more patient and be grateful for the simple things in life... walking outside, the fresh air and the way they greet you after you've been away for a short time is just so uplifting! This is probably what I love most about my dog. They really do teach us to see the joy in the little things and to be grateful for one another. I'd love to hear your reflections!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
my cat is the only one hoping for me to come home and the feeling of someone waiting for u makes me feel less lonely
@holyjo2401
It must be nice opening the door and see your cat already waiting for you. I hope coming here will also help to feel less lonely.
Animals are the one who taught me the real meaning of life. They taught me to be kind and humble. I am and will work for their welfare for the rest of my life. I just love them. They are part of me.
@Kiew1205
Animals can be amazing teachers! Nice that you decided to work for their welfare. May I ask if you work in an animal shelter?
I like how cats cuddle when they want to and at other times are so freakishly independent
I love how puppies gaze at you adoringly no matter how the world turns against you.
Even the frogs I hear after a rain makes me feel less alone and always comforted .
So I have never actually kept a pet but yeah but I know this much from my interactions from them.
@helloTortoise301
It seems that you're very connected to animals. Frogs are so cute with their big eyes and can be quite noisy with their calls but they also play an important role in our ecosystems.
I’ve learned that I can be loved by my dog. I’ve learned that I am worthy of love and deserve to be protected. I’ve learned that animals can pick up on my emotions and be there for me in a way that a human never can. I don’t think I’d be here today if it wasn’t for my pup.
@akay06
I'm glad you have that special being to give you the support, the love and cuddling you need, particularly in rough times. Dogs are truly amazing in sensing when we are sad and always there to give comfort without asking anything in return.
@akay06
I am so glad that you have your pup. ❤️ Your puppy sounds like such an amazing dog and thank you for sharing with us what you have learned from being a pet owner.
What a post!
Yesterday walking, I tuned into a bird call.
During one of it’s pauses, I called back.
It paused longer then normal then responded.
We called back and forth for a bit.
I noticed the ‘collaboration’ needed presence.
If I wasn’t present with the call, it was over.
This teaches me to be mindful, intentional with my communication, forgiving, to be graceful with myself and others (accepting).

@Dallady wow that sounds like a wonderful experience. I sometimes hear dove calls and imitate them back. Mourning doves have a very haunting call https://www.freesoundslibrary.com/mourning-dove-sound-effect/
Today on on the walk I heard the same bird but it was calling back to itself. That made me think about how what we say comes back to us. To make sure I watch my words.
@soulsings
@Dallady I heard a mockingbird doing that calling and then returnin the call.
Whoa. 😎
@soulsings
@Dallady another remarkable moment is listening to the mourning dove calls. https://youtu.be/JES-3jF7SaA
Dogs taught me many of the things people have already said. But also to "listen". Dog communication is very subtle, sophisticated and fast and you have to pay attention, or you miss it.
@LisaMeighanMBPsS They are more honest, they don't deviate from their character and they are much more intelligent than us humans.
@Fehpa1994 I agree that they do not lie. If they are your friend, they are your friend and nothing changes unless something happens to change it.
Such beautiful responses and it's clear to see so many of us love animals and I can see why. They bring so much joy into our lives and love us unconditionally whilst supporting us. Someone was reflecting the other day on her dog to me and she told me that she experienced a tough time and her dog went to fetch a toy of their own to make her feel happier. So sweet!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Wow Lisa, that's very touching about the dog wanting to uplift her owner! I think many animals have a strong sense when we feel bad and really like to see us happier. My dogs did all sort of things to comfort me when I did not feel well too.
@LisaMeighanMBPsS '.
My kitty I adopted 3 months ago just got ate by a coyote. I’m sad of course.
@UnityInDuality
My heart goes out to you, I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ It must be so rough to go through this. Please reach out to a listener for a 1:1 chat, it can help to talk to someone to cope with the loss.
@UnityInDuality I am so sorry for your loss. We had an outdoor cat but times were different 30 years ago.
Nowadays I see a coyote hunting little bunny rabbits in the back yard every once in a while.
I've learned how to be more patient, my dog is really really patient.
@bubblingJoy3958
Nice that your dog has taught you such a great skill!
