Volunteering here gives me a sense of self-worth and meaning in life. When I help someone in general, I feel better inside.

@soulsings

People keep telling me that my self worth is not determined by my actions, thoughts or anything external to me.

I don't understand it but that is what I keep hearing.

I feel a bit better when I can feel safe enough to sing. And when I spend time with supportive people.

My self-worth is doing well, thank you 😀 and my self-confidence too.

My self-worth came out of the social world I was raised in early on. The adults were all well-to-do, old school people with amazing careers in liberal professions, so plenty of schooling, horse-riding, music and dance classes, playing bridge, staying in other European countries or at country homes, and all this could have turned me into an entitled young woman who had no financial worries. I suppose I always had self-worth, but not always self-confidence. I was very shy as a teenager or young woman.

Self-worth is often about choices one makes. I was very wary of men and careful of my reputation there. I would participate in political activities in my university but challenged the fire-brand outsiders. I spent a lot of time studying and reading back then, listened to the adults' conversation while they debated and reminisced on events which happened before I was born. There was a lot of education out of those experiences.

Self-worth, for instance, comes out of making sure your opinions are well-founded and not just adopted from propaganda and hearsay while self-confidence is about calling out people who spread misinformation. Self-worth will keep you from losing control of yourself, and self-confidence keeps others from controlling you.

Dancing is an amazing activity to keep the mind and body in shape! I love dancing too, especially Latin dance. Do you have a favorite dance style and what is it?
