AMA Ask the Therapists Anything - CLOSED to new questions - Read Questions to and Answers by the therapists
CLOSED to new questions until the next AMA
You are free to read questions and answers.
Hi there. My name is soulsings, the co-Community Mentor Leader of the 7 Cups online therapy sub-community. I am thrilled to introduce an AMA [Ask Me Anything] form that can allow you to ask questions and get answers from Lisa (see their bio) and Parvathy (see their bio) and other 7 Cups online therapists.
If there are any people that have a subscription with 7 Cups online therapy who have issues related to their current subscription, please email [not a personal message PM] support@7cups.com
This format gives you a Google Form (LINK REMOVED this AMA is now closed) so you can ask your questions and read the answers of selected questions that the therapist answers the therapists give will be posted in this AMA thread. The AMA is a way that can help you better understand how 7 Cups online therapy can help people cope with mental health issues that you also might experience in your life.
In your questions, please do not ask for advice or directions as the therapist cannot give people advice or options whose situation they do not know well.
How to Participate:
Only questions submitted on the form by Nov 18th (this Friday) 7PM EST may be answered. Please do NOT post your questions in this thread! Submit your question here in this short form Google Form Check back here for your answers starting next week Nov 16th or later@soulsings

@soulsings Cannot wait for this.

My hats off to them, for all there hard work and dedication.
I did sent in a question, hopefully it gets answered.
Thanks soulsings and amiablePeace77 for doing this event.
Hopefully, there will be more of these down the road.
If time permits of course.
@Amiablepeace77: Would you do a formal evaluation before starting the therapy process?
Hello @amiablepeace77,
Thank you for your question! :) At 7 Cups, you would usually let the therapist know why you are in therapy and they will then work with you on a treatment plan, your own preferences and your goals in therapy which will be suitably paced and tailored to meet individual differences. There will be frequent times to provide feedback to your therapist where you can discuss the process of therapy together. Even if you feel unsure of why you are in therapy which does happen, your therapist will work with you to ensure that your individual needs are met.
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS
Thank you for explaining it so clearly.
@amiablePeace77
Thank you for such a great question! :)
@calmmango9611 I am a retired listener/leader here at 7cups. Now, I am a leader on the member side. My question is What is the best way to support members who have depression?
Hello @calmmango9611,
Thank you for your question! It is great that you are here with us at 7 Cups. Your question shows just how much you want to help others and how much you care which is wonderful to see! Members that are struggling with depression often have a need to be heard and understood even if they are struggling to understand themselves. Most often, people who suffer from depression just want to feel like someone is there listening and walking the same path as them. Simply by being there, providing active listening and empathy you will be doing a great job at helping them feel less alone in their struggle. Thank you for all you do at 7 Cups!
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS Thank you for answering my question.
Thank you for all that you do, as our counseling coordinator here at 7Cups.
Thank you for your time.
Hi @Miam,
Thank you for your question! There can be many reasons why you like crying. Crying is a great emotional release and it can show a wide variety of emotions such as sadness, grief, joy, physical pain and frustration. Crying activates the parasympathetic nervous system and can actually help you relax when you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed. There is a vast amount of research on the benefits of crying and I would encourage you to explore if you feel like it is something you would like to know more about. If you feel like you are struggling to process your own thoughts, feelings and emotions and are crying often then it might be a good time for you to reach out to someone. Thank you for sharing :)
@EmoRex If I was to sign up to 7cups therapy, how many times a month would i be allowed to contact a therapist?
Hello @EmoRex,
Thank you for your question! At 7 Cups, you are able to contact your therapist unlimited from the comfort of wherever works for you whether this is at home, or perhaps during your daily routine! That's the great thing about 7 Cups online therapy as it is very accessible either using the app or the web and works around your life without a waiting time to attend your initial appointment, between sessions or in the clinician's waiting room.
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS
Awww (: nice to know that unlimited content is allowed π thank you so much for answering my question. I really appreciate it. You're doing awesome π
Some flowers for you πππ π
@EmoRex
Thank you for your submission! It was a very good question to ask as I know many people would want to know more about the responses too. So you can write unlimited to your therapist and they respond Monday - Friday 1-2 times per day.
I am sending flowers to you too! π»π»
