Tips for Studying? Share Them Here!

Barush October 5th, 2014

Hello, fellow students! Since the decade+ of me being a student on various levels, I found out there are certain ways of studying that suit me better than others. However, I'm always open to any tips and suggestions to make the exam period less torturous :P Also, I think knowing what studying methods other people use might serve as an inspiration to the rest of us :)

How do you like to study?

Are there any things that work great for you and you'd like to share them with others?

Thanks for sharing!

I like to make a list of important concepts or chapters that I expect will be on the exam and then go through my notes and readings to write out the important notes on a study guide. I leave myself a few days to work on my guide and by the time the guide is finished I am ready to write! When there are concepts I have fully grasped I highlight in green so I know I can skip over them while studying. Concepts I don't know as well I highlight in yellow or underline in red so I know to focus extra attention on those areas.

Writing out the information is a better way for most people to commit it to memory and it definitely works for me. Good luck students! We have almost made it :)

Try to skim the topics first and start off with the one that interests you the most. Once you set up the pace through that then studying becomes smooth and swift.

@Barush Make a story out of the information, can be as crazy or simple.

@Barush I try to understand a big chunk then re-read it and try to point out the most important points of it and ask important questions on it.

Make ready-reckoner-points for each topic/question which are amazingly simple when you are revising and so easy to retain.

Never study directly from the book.

Make your notes in your own words.

Underline/highlight important points.

Pay special attention to your handwriting and neatness of your answer.

Write in clear cut short paragraphs and sentences.
