Struggling to Reach my Dreams

P3pperm1nt June 8th, 2021

Hi everyone! I am currently in 8th grade this year and one semester left and school is over. I am happy thinking about this but I wasn't motivated to do any of my school works because of frequent anxiety attacks plus depression. I have a big dream of continuing my studies in the US for college in the future but It's hard to keep myself motivated to do my best at school. And since everyone's been doing classes online, it's a really big struggle for me since I wasn't used to it. I really don't like homeschooling because I get easily distracted. But I knew I had to move forward to keep reaching my goals. Any advice for dealing with distractions while doing online classes?

It is good you have a goal of attending college in the US. I understand that online classes have been more of a struggle for those coping with depression and anxiety. Doing classes online takes a lot of discipline and time management skills. Set blocks of time to study online. If you feel distracted after half an hour, an hour (or for as long as it is), then, stop. Take a break, then get back to it after. Try to keep that goal of yours up front. Know that you'll need to get through this semester first, in order to be one step closer to that goal~

@P3pperm1nt Hey there peppermint..I believe you speak for the majority of us who are dealing with similar issues. I am so glad to see you reaching out and seeking support..It can be pretty daunting but I'm sure you will do well in life because you already are determined to achieve your goals and that's the first step done!

Now, about the coping methods, I've tried making scheduled and using the Eisenhower matrix and even the feynman's method for learning and it has been so helpful! I hope this helped😊 (PS: feel free to pm me if you want support or wish to talk) loads of love and strength to you 🧡
