December 29: Listener PMing Member Feature!
Hello Glorious Community,
It is with great excitement, that we would like let you know the feature allowing Listeners PM members will launch tomorrow morning! You can learn more about the evolution of this feature here. However, here are the hot items to know:
Listeners who reach the both of the below outlined badges will be able to PM Members:
----> Tick Tock: For reaching ten 1-on-1 chats with members
----> Loyal Friend: Listeners who earn 1 approved positive review
Members you may receive a PM from a Listener for the following reason:
1) A friendly welcome to the community
2) A listener saw a post of yours in the forum and wants to support you
3) A listener interacted with you in group support and wants to support you
4) A listener saw one of your feed posts and wants to support you
5) If you are working on a community project with a listener & they PM you to collaborate
There are likely other situations too!
Members, you will have the ability to opt-out of this feature. If you do not want Listeners to PM you, you can turn this off on your settings page.
We believe that this update will increase support giving in the community and encourage listeners to support and community build with members in a more dynamic way!
I will be present in the community throughout the day tomorrow and available to answer your questions in this thread or in the chatrooms. We know this update may present us with more opportunties to learn and make the site better & I am excite to do that together! Additionally, a form will be provided tomorrow (after launch) providing a way for you to share bugs or give additional feedback on the update!

The option hasn't been launched yet! When it does, it should appear.

It's okay. I'm sure you won't be bombarded with messages when it launches! If a listener does PM you, you can simply ignore it and change the settings. 😊
Edit; it appears to have been launched so the option should show in the settings now.
@Laura Are we still spamming non members with popup advertisements, preying on people while they are at their most distraught to for over personal details for an "anonymous" service? Or are we pretending that's not happening

I'm sorry you feel this way, lovely! If you're referring to the encouragement to create an account, it's likely because then you can track your progress and thus the site will be of greater benefit to you. As a member myself I've never been asked personal details, so I can't relate to that problem. Since our basic services are free I don't really see how this is "preying" on people, as the only thing that costs money is the therapist directory, which is totally different from the free listening side. Care to enlighten me? Perhaps I'm missing something, for which I apologize.
@Asbestos Could you explain more? Are you referring to the therapy ads, or somethign else?
@AffyAvo I think they are talking about when we join the rooms as a guest and want participate in, it needed to create a member account, so our email address

Now when no Listeners PM me... my fears that no one Cares, will be fully realized. I can look forward to seeing- "No new messages" and get my feelings hurt daily (jk... sort of)

Lotus. We love you💜💜 i do think a lot of listeners maybe stay in listener rooms and just come here if they have problems!!!! I think there are great listeners though. I hope they reach out to you. I still wish members could pm. We know each other well and care. We stay around longer. But saying that I think this is exciting and hope members and listeners will benefit from it. 💜

I'm sure if you posted in the forums that you needed some help and would like a listener, you'll be PM'd 😊 Or if a listener is supporting you in the chat rooms, they may message you then. If you get no messages, it doesn't mean no-one cares about you, you just haven't said anything for any available listeners to think "hmm, it looks like Chrome is having a bad day, I should message them". 😊

I have been hearing about this feature for sometime and I was a bit skeptic about it of being misused. But I can see that the members too have been given the right to 'not receive' messages from listeners if they dont wish to and I feel this is a good and fair step which will bring more balance to this very new but interesting feature. Just like the most of us, I too hope this brings more flexibility to the support giving and seeking process. I wish it all the best! 
@Laura , great feature but teens can't message Adult/Teen listeners now!!

This feature is about Listeners PMing members not other listeners.
I as an Adult/Teen listener can PM a teen member, that was tested already by me a little while ago. :)
Or you mean that this change affected something else?

I also am an adult/teen listener and seems like the button to message the teen listeners disappeared from my sight -- since this update. I couldn't find it anywhere.
I'm able to message teen members :) but I'm not sure about teen members' ability to message adult/teen listeners (this, perhaps what @ItsE meant)

@ItsE Please forgive me. I had the impression you're a Listener. My mistake.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn may be able to give us his opinion on this. He encourages us to submit a support ticket whenever something breaks so do that also with a printscreen or something if possible for him to be able to explore it easier.
Hi @Chevy81, Unless you have the 'Peter Pan' badge you won't be able to initiate contact with a teen listener even if you are an adult-teen. A teen listener has to send the intiial message for you to be able to send them a PM. This is why you won't see an option on teen listeners profiles to send them a message.
Although right now it seems that listeners with the Peter Pan badge are also unable to message teen listeners, But I'm sure @Laura and the team are fixing it. :)
Thank you for the explanation @holly29 So another weird thing has been happened. A few hours before this update went live, I actually could initiate messaging teen listeners which was surprised me because all I knew was as precisely as you've explained. Feels like things changed very fast. But of course, whichever species of bug that causing all of these, I believe the @DevTeam will do everything in their power to exterminate the bug(s) soon (bug report submitted)
@holly29 - yet @devTeam has knocked down most of the bugs and is still tackling things as we hear about them. Thanks for all the live testing feedback :)

If you're on the app, I don't think you can see it. Also you're already a listener so it shouldn't show anyway on your side.
