What to do about Member/Mod bullying behavior

HeartofaPhoenix February 17th, 2017

There have been a few instances where I have noticed a member have disagreements with another member, leave a chat and almost instantly a Mod come in and target the member with which the disagreement took place. This is very counter productive to providing a supportive environment for members in Group Support Chats. I have had members confide in me that they feel targeted in group chats and have reached out to site support to no avail. How do we combat this?

i think the memers and listeners in the chat need to promote a more healthy attitude and nicely tell the moderaror that they're targetting someone and it's unhealthy and....etc 😊 bullying tends to respond to social pressue :)

Good luck <3

@CuriousTeddy the problem with that is these mods then mute/ban those that speak up for 24 hours. Enough of those 24 bans and your account ends up suspended. To make matters worse I have even seen these members and mods gaslighting others.

Phoenix- Sadly, I've witnessed the same thing. It starts when members treat the Room as THERE own personal property (it's Not) Then they operate in collusion with a Mod they've made friends with, to target someone they don't like. Extremely un-professional and immature behavior!

Side note: I've seen members complain about drama in the Rooms, when THEY are the ones who are constantly inciting it (Ugh)

It is definitely not okay for any group mod or listener on a member account to return on their listener account to target a member they had a fuss with. That is indeed bullying, inappropriate, and unprofessional. I am very sorry to those of you have witnessed this, and who have experienced this personally. You don't deserve this behavior.

What can you do when this happens?

- Immediately use the emergency form to call in a mod (you can find this in the chatroom rules)

- Travel rooms to find another group mod to come help

- If you're a listener, you can try to find a group mod in the listener rooms

- Take any screenshots you are able to

- Leave a review about the group mod/listener with the Moderator & Listener review form (you can find this in the chatroom rules)

- Don't try to engage in the conflict

- Email community@7cups.com about the listener if you choose to report that way

- Try to move rooms away from the group mod or take a step away from the room to cool off and get away

Members, guests, listeners, group mods all deserve safety and support in the rooms. None of us are allowed to unfollow or misuse the rules or roles that we have set for us. We are all meant to follow the same rules and behavior. I want everyone's time to be a time in the rooms to be a supportive and enjoyable time.
