New Workshop Series Coming Soon!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well. The wait for our next workshop series is finally over!

In my many years on 7 Cups and living life in general, I’ve discovered that one of the hardest challenges we all face is our tendency to worry our lives away. We worry someone is upset with us, we worry about getting the job we want, we worry about our health, and our finances, it truly never seems to end. Just when one worry subsides, another is waiting, and sometimes they come at us all at once, leaving us cornered.

One truth we hold close at 7 Cups is this: The problem is the path, and the obstacle is the way. Life is too short to let worry steal so much of our time. That’s why it’s absolutely essential to learn how to conquer it.

There’s a quote that perfectly captures the essence of this series, from one of my favorite Stoics, Marcus Aurelius:

“A wise man accepts his suffering, endures it, but does not add to it.”

So, let’s strive to be wise.

  • Will it be easy? No.
  • Will it be fun? Probably not.
  • Will it be worth it? Absolutely!

Imagine looking back at these few weeks and realizing that this decision, to take part in this workshop has profoundly changed your outlook on life.

The inspiration for this series comes from many conversations and observations. I’ve noticed that even the most capable and competent people I know struggle with worry. I know this firsthand because I’m a worrier in recovery. One of the most powerful tools I’ve found to tackle worry is Dale Carnegie’s book, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. This book has been so impactful that I’ve read it twice and it’s not short! I’ve also listened to the audiobook twice (it’s nine hours long!), and every time I’ve come away with something new and valuable.

I am not the first person to address this important topic! Sometime ago @GlenM wrote a post on How to Worry Less and Not Panic. Which has provided foundational tools for our learning about cognitive distortion series tasks.

This series is based almost entirely on that book, and I cannot recommend it enough. If this topic resonates with you, do yourself a favor: buy it, borrow it, or listen to the audiobook available on YouTube. It’s a book worth studying.

One quote mentioned in the book that has stayed with me is this

“How strange it is, our little procession of life! The child says, "When I am a big boy." But what is that? The big boy says, "When I grow up." And then, grown up, he says, "When I get married." But to be married, what is that after all? The thought changes to "When I'm able to retire." And then, when retirement comes, he looks back over the landscape traversed; a cold wind seems to sweep over it; somehow he has missed it all, and it is gone. Life, we learn to late, is in the living, in the tissue of every day and hour.”

― Stephen Leacock

I want us to use this series to avoid the mistakes described above. Let us not go empty-handed in the fight against worry. I don’t claim that one workshop series will fix everything, but we can go from being active worriers to being worriers in recovery, which can make a difference.

Here’s what you can expect:

🌟 Learn to live in the moment: Focus on today and let go of the “what-ifs.”

🛠️ Practical tools for problem-solving: From gathering facts to taking decisive action.

⚙️ The power of action: Discover how staying engaged can transform your mindset.

💡 Letting go of the small stuff: Set boundaries and stop sweating the trifles.

💖 Gratitude and self-care: Recharge your mind and body with intentional practices.

We are offering a certificate to show for it! Anyone who completes all tasks of the series including submitting the pre and post-assessment forms within the duration specified will receive a certificate as a token of recognition for their efforts.

You are highly recommended to use a member account to participate in the series.

Here is how you can get involved!
