Some thoughts and feedback on improving the site.
Here are just some thoughts and ideas I have:
- Make it easier to save listeners you've found that you feel best support you. Maybe it could be as simple as starring the conversation so the conversation stays permanently or the listener is kept recorded somewhere so the member can find them much easier. Or it could show a star for the member when they view a listener, or see them in a group chat, so they know that they were a listener they liked/worked well with.
- The notepad feature is a good idea, but it would be better if it was inbuilt somewhere during the chat. It's a pain having to find it, open it up, sort out your folders of info etc. It would be great if it was 'attached' to the member, so whenever they messaged you, even if a previous conversation was deleted, the notes remain. I was thinking maybe incorporating a notepad button in the chat window.
- As I've recently graduated in Psychology, it would be cool if there was some kind of role/badge that could indicate that someone is a Psych graduate (with proof to 7 Cups ofc). This of course wouldn't mean that we're therapists or offer therapy, but I know some members take comfort in knowing they're talking to someone who's got that qualification.
Let me know what you think!
@SilentSerenityy Nice suggestions. May I share mines too ?
@SilentSerenityy Interesting 😀 Here's what I think…
starring the conversation: I completely agree. I implemented this for myself long ago and I use it all the time. My version makes some conversations "sticky" so they stay at the top of my chat list, just like sticky threads stay at the top of a forum.
notes inbuilt somewhere during the chat: I completely agree. I also implemented this for myself long ago and I use it all the time. On the chat screen where there are normally two tabs (1-on-1 Chat, Group Chat) I have three tabs. The third one is Notes, and it contains a page of notes for the current conversation. When I type something there, it is automatically saved in the usual 7 Cups notes, so that it's stored confidentially, and it's still there when I return to that conversation in future.
Psych graduate role/badge: I kind of agree that this would be cool, but I also think it would be problematic. I can understand the reasons for the current policy (described in Flagging Mental Health Professionals - Safety Patrol Rule Update). My general feeling is that listeners giving advice is a problem that's been getting worse, and I suspect that identifying psych graduates might make it worse still, even if that is not the intention.
