I dunno if this is self harm. Help!
So I had a serious episode today, and I started smashing the back of my head into the floor like full on. I couldn't stop it, and eventually boon, I was back to myself. Is this self harm? This isn't the first, and I want it to be the last but I remember feeling euphoric whilst doing it.
if it’s not and I am in the wrong place just let me know
@independentPear1161 not 100% sure but sounds like you're frustrated with yourself about something and it a way you managed to snap out of the frustration. Maybe like a self punishment. It may be good to ask yourself 'is there anything I'm mad at myself about right now?' - if you find there is; being kind to yourself like 'we all make mistakes, it's cool, I'm human and trying to get better at stuff' etc is a good place to start. Noticing how we're talking to ourselves and learning to be a good friend to ourselves is a really good skill to keep practicing. Through thick and thin. This video illustrates it really well - hope it help :) Emotional First Aid
@independentPear1161 yeah it is definitely a form of self harm !😞 self harm can be done in many ways. But it's a coping mechanism during your time of darkness. So don't feel bad, or be hard on yourself for sh. It's not your fault ❤ hugs you tightly ❤ perhaps you should try talk to a doctor/health professional to discuss coping strategies. And we are all here for you to ❤ your not alone, we care, I care
This is the first time where I know after the fact it happened. And weirdly it felt good, like euphoria. (Not saying it was or anything)
thank you so much, the crisis team are involved atm which is super helpful. Not knowing and being able to come here and just see how amazing you all are sharing
@independentPear1161 good luck with the crisis team ❤❤ and remember we are all here for you ❤ you don't have to struggle alone ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤
@independentPear1161
when you say you “couldnt stop” do you mean you lost control? like you weren’t doing it to hurt yourself but you just did it on semi automatic?
it sounds like it could be a separate issue from self harm, especially with the feeling euphoric, but it depends on the reason you did it
It was like I was watching myself above, with absolutely no control to stop, the only thing I remember from it was how like peaceful I felt whilst doing it, in the midst of an episode. Weird it felt weird, it’s like when your super high and you where not in control at all of what happened, like that.
