What are your viewpoints on porn? Should it be banned?

The way I see it, if couples want to have sex in the comfort of their own homes and they wish to record themselves in the act and upload it online for the whole world to see they should have that opportunity to do just that. I know porn can be determential to society, but it has been around for hundreds of years now. I just think people should be given that privilege. It's adult entertainment for a reason after all.

I bring this up because I've been judged for doing something I have a passion for. In regards to this industry. Especially by my parents and close friends. I just think it should be normalized. Simular to how its OK to allow sex scenes in movies or tv shows like game of thrones. Obviously in movies it is more tamed and you do not see the penetration like in porn or something more graphic like the guys ejaculating on the girl. Regardless porn should not be seen as something evil. Unless it's something illegal of course. What do you guys think? Should porn continue to exist or be banned?

I think it can be used in a healthy way.

I think we need more focus on having ethical porn (and for consumers to seek that out and avoid other porn).

For those who do not think porn is healthy in general, I think they should support efforts towards ethical porn too, as driving it underground is likely to create more exploitation.

Porn itself is not as bad as it is made out to be and no one should ever be judged for life choices of any kind, so long it is not hurting anyone. One of my very first jobs at 21 was in the porn industry working on the websites and being involved "behind the scenes". What most people never get to see is that there are many legitimate reasons people work in this industry. For me, it cemented the programming work that led to my career. I actually got to talk to many of the people that passed through those doors. Yes, there were a few people who just liked to have sex and did it for that, but there were many more that did it as a way to feed their kids, make money for their families, or use the money to get themselves into their careers.

Porn is not evil in its own right. It is the "extras" added to porn that can change what porn is and how it interpreted. People can do many things along the lines of sex. Things like BD/SM and other acts not directly associated with porn get judged a bit more harshly, but if those consenting adults prefer that and it is not hurting anyone or is illegal, then so be it. Anyone who does not want to see it can avoid it.
