Birth Control?
@Shailaa21 About 5 years ago, a friend of mine used to get it every 3 mos and it worked .. but she would get yeast infections on and off. It's most likely b/c she never got her period. When a woman gets her period, it kind of cleans you out, but if you don't for so long, you can get a yeast infection. I have been taking the pill for like 10 years and never had a problem ..
@TransAm85
Hey! thanks for the response
I am on the pill as well, but gives me many many side effects !
@Shailaa21 No problem .. that part I never understood though. How there can be bad side effects of the pill I don't know. I like it b/c it regulates everything, less cramps, and I know when to expect some black outs (I have epilepsy, but no so severely). I guess talk to your doctor if you want to try something different, but I guess the new stuff is not so good.
@TransAm85
i dont get my period anymore just very minor spotting with the pill. Its great for that, but has really negative side effects also. I guess I might swtich to a different brand
@Shailaa21 That's the only thing I heard that was bad b/c a period every month cleans you out so to say and if you're on these new pills where you aren't supposed to anyway .. all that builds up in your system, including bacteria. Apparently .. I am not a doctor. So if you get an annoying yeast infection here and there, I doubt it has to do with your partner. I heard that NuvaRing is uncomfortable. All this new stuff .. well just keep up w/your doctor. :)
@Shailaa21 - I've used both the pill and the arm implant, and I am personally in love with the implant because it lets me not think about it at all for three years. When I've talked to my gynocologist, she has basically said that there are lots of effective options (pill, injections, implant, IUD, etc.), all of which have some side effects, but they vary for each person. If the pill you are on isn't working out for you right now because of the side effects, definitely chat with your doctor and see what is the best option for you - it could just be a different brand of pill that reacts with your body differently, or it could be one of the other options out there.
Good luck!
@Anomalia
Hey :) thanks for your input! I think i might switch birth control methods... I have been looking into the arm implant, do you have side effects for it?
@Shailaa21 - My side effects have been slightly more oily skin and my period stopped.
When I talked to my gynocologist before getting it, she said that there are a whole litany of possible side effects (weight gain, irregular periods, etc.) and that she has seen all of them in some people (most people get a couple side effects, but not consistently the same ones), but that in her time giving it, only one person requested it removed because of the severity of side effects, and the rest said it was worth it.
