Any tips on writing supernatural characters?
A current project I’m working on has a lot of vampireish things going on, and there’s a gryphon- a lot of supernatural characters in all. I just need help with some of the small things, like giving these characters personalities besides being divine.
@HelenaSays Ooh that sounds pretty cool, happy working on the project. I don't have any tips but hearing vampire-ish my mind went straight to The Vampire Diaries lol, have you watched the show? :D
@HelenaSays I am so glad you asked. Maybe make some of them kind and some of them rude. The gryphon should just be comic relief because yes. Maybe the leader should be like bada** and cool.
@Peagamer13
Yes! I love comic relief anthropomorphic characters! The gryphon would definitely fit a comic relief role, and his vampire owner is cute and silly enough it would just be- *chefs kizz*! Thanks for the advice <3
@HelenaSays You just got help from Peagamer. The dude whos imagination is used for everyday life. Are you making a story, or like a movie? Whatever it is, I wanna see!
@Peagamer13
Oh! I thank you for saying that! Currently I’m writing it as a book/novella about some good ol’ vampire-human romance except the fact that the protag marries a vampire isn’t a big plot point. None of that Twilight nonsense, y’know! ((dw i luv twilight i just also hate it)) :>
Hi! I'm not so used to supernatural characters but, when I'm stuck with some similar, research helps me a lot! Maybe looking for info about the vampires and gryphon origins may give you a clearer idea about how do you want to develop the characters. Also, make them questions. Yep, it sounds silly, but toally works for me.
Ask them about their past, their likes, dislikes, their fears and dreams, family and friends... Let them speak and show their true self to you!
@HelenaSays
im not sure this is a good idea but one of them could be the stereotypical existentialism character who questions wether their immorality is soemthing good or if its even worth living forever for all the cons associated
@HelenaSays I'm not much of a writer, but I wonder what would happen if
you start from your ideas for the characters just like any other
character, then think about how their powers or magic would interact.
Where they are coming from? What drives them? What are their most
important relationships? How would a vampire react differently than a person? What different conflicts would they face? Good luck!
nice
lol
good work
i feel like i personally enjoy reading plots with supernatural characters that are intense yknow? being intense, if written well can attract you to the characters SO MUCH.
