Current Reads

Right now I just finished reading The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson with a book club at the retirement home (I'm a librarian). I'm working on 'The Daughter of the Book Woman'.

It's actually been a very good book- historical fiction about the people/culture of Appalachia (US) in the early 1900's Kentucky, especially the 'Blue people'.

What is everyone else reading? Normally I'm a Fantasy gal myself (huge Drizzt fan, btw)

Hey!

I really want to get back into reading again πŸ˜• It's just hard finding the time!!

Currently reading Street Kid again. It has been so long since I last read and thought it was due a reread!

I'm currently ploughing through the Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. It's very slow, dry and sometimes it can be a little bit (OK, very) depressing, because the themes revolve around sickness and death. I know it's a classic, but honestly, I would not recommend it. I keep reading it only because I hate leaving books unfinished πŸ˜„

@VeraBorisova You shouldn't torture yourself like that; there are enough things in life that will do that for you. So many more books you might enjoy! Kudos for giving a try, though. πŸ‘

@ALifetimeAgo, you're probably right. I just keep giving it more chances hoping it will turn into something more interesting or I'll start to get some of its wisdom, but maybe I should just accept it's not for me and move on.

@ALifetimeAgo. I recently read House Rules by Jody Piccolt. It was a good novel.

I am currently reading a memoir Invisible Storm by Jason Kander.
