Haiku Poetry Challenge
Hello, my name is FrenchMarbles, I'm one of the listeners here on 7Cups and I thought about doing several writing challenges, this one focusing on Haiku!
But what IS Haiku?
Good question! So it's a miniature form of poetry consisting of a short amount of lines.
For example
“The Old Pond” by Matsuo Bashō
An old silent pond
A frog jumps into the pond—
Splash! Silence again.
OR
“A Poppy Blooms” by Katsushika Hokusai
I write, erase, rewrite
Erase again, and then
A poppy blooms.
I would love to challenge you to come up with a short poem, up to five lines maximum with the theme of mental health! It doesn't need to be cheery, any emotion is valid.
One....
Two....
Three...
Goooooooo!
@FrenchMarbles
This is a lovely idea, Frenchie! Love these short poems, and now I think 'll do terrible at it but still would love to try lollll. ❤ Here it goes:
Mental health is important they say,
Alas! Only a few actually go out of their way,
To start a conversation, to make an effort, to offer their time,
People who show the world, kindness costs ain't a single dime!
(Cheers to such people ❤🥳)
Okay, gotta admit this was super cool and not that terrible, uh huh? 😃
Tagging some awesome people who might be interested as well:

I really like that! It's such a nice short poem, good job!
And oof you know @CosmicMiracle?!
I'm her mentor, small world!

And lol it is definitely a small world, specially at cups xD
Thanks for the tag @Sunisshiningandsoareyou and nice challenge @FrenchMarbles 💙🥳 here you go!
Once Upon a Time
Whirling wind blows hard
Fragile branches lose the fight
Flowers fall apart
17 syllables? 😀
New here. its not a Haiku.
But a short poem i wrote on how i feel about mental health right now.
The walls are empty,
theyre way too white so im trying today
to find a way,
to build
my home
again
The moon is laughing
On the glass reflecting bouncing on the walls to
Sneak
the brightness
in.
The water is boiling
Whistling at me but i cant seem to find again the
Strength
to walk
within.
My dog is happy.
Tucking her head under my hand, eyes peering to remind
we fight
together
always.
@FrenchMarbles I love Haiku!
There is peace in the rhythm
When words work for us.
I tend to use the stricter formula of 5, 7, 5 so a line of 5 syllables then 7 then 5 again,
Little stories that,
Make me smile and happy.
A giggle is heard.
Listening - One Step At A Time!
Forever Gone
Black eyes.. I cannot bear
Silent lies.. begin to stare
Scratching walls.. nails break
Shattered soul.. smoke intake
CRASH
Hi everyone, i'm very new to 7cups. Only a couple days in really. I just wanted to say that I think I finally found my home. <3
Haikus? Okay...I'm not a poet, though...
The tree outside sways,
branches scratching the window
like some catamite
Stare at the ceiling
Just as many nights before
your life in the rooms.
Morning vitamins
medications come evening
Christ, I hate these pills
Sitting on the john,
thumbs twiddling on the phone screen
crapping Net addict.
*shrug* I never guaranteed their quality.
More haikus because why not:
In the easy chair...
Pick one reason, just any
headache? Yeah, still here
Many things to do,
almost no energy left
Moss grows on my brain
Turtles in the stream
Too hot to feed the shellbacked
useless life slips by
@slowdecline48
Well dang! Not very cheerful BUT who says it needs to be?!
Wonderful poem!!!
Sorry @FrenchMarbles, I'm not feeling that cheerful today. Still, this is interesting...am wondering now if I should do a series of these. Do people still buy poetry books?
there is something
somewhere inside
of me
long to share
not this
