Living with SadCat13 | PAT Edition
It's about that time of the week
to get to know our awesome leaders!
Who could it be?
Interviewee: @Sadcat13
Interviewer: @Heathermarie95
⛄ HeatherM:
What is your self-care routine?
Sadcat13:
i don´t have one. My mental health struggles make it extremely hard for me to make a consistent effort towards a routine, so i´m more focused on meeting the basic needs i have at the moment. I ask myself what do i need right now, may it be mentally or physically. And then see what can I do about it. It is the smaller and more basic things to me that make the difference. It can be as little as sitting a few minutes in silence, taking a shower or doing a gentle stretch to bigger things like going to the gym or taking a nap. I found that this moment to moment self care works the best for me, without having to stick to a routine.
⛄ HeatherM:
What is one quote you live by?
Sadcat13:
“Give it to God and go to sleep” It was a real game changer for me. Since I first came across this quote on one of those pinterest scrolling evenings, it saved me so many times. I´m a very anxious person, and sometimes, my anxieties regarding undone tasks or important things the next day are keeping me awake. When it happens, I remind myself of this quote, put everything down and go to bed. One time, i was worried over a work i had to do for next days class and weren´t ready with. I was barely awake, trying to finish it, with no end in sight. Then i remembered the quote and went to bed, trusting God will handle it. The next day, my lesson got canceled. I had similar outcomes happen to me multiple times. Whenever I felt powerless, hopeless and went to sleep with this quote on mind, things always worked out for me somehow.
⛄ HeatherM:
What is your favorite type of weather and why?
Sadcat:
I used to enjoy rain when i was younger, and I still like to listen to it, but as I got older, I discovered the beauty of sunshine. I absolutely love it now. Especially the late afternoon sun when it is not hot anymore, just pleasantly warm and baths everything in beautiful light that is very pleasant to look at.
⛄ HeatherM:
What is your favorite TV show?
Sadcat:
I am not a series fan, but recently, I am having a Spongebob Squarepants marathon. I recently thought about the show thanks to a meme I saw, and it made me think how it is such an iconic series and I haven´t seen more than a few parts here and there. So i decided to check it out, and I like it so far. Especially having fun recognising the moments that are famous meme templates.
⛄ Heather M:
What topic for support is most important to you, and why?
SadCat:
I feel like i have a very versatile palette of support topics, that rotate according to what is presently happening in my life. Sometimes, i´m seeking support in terms of hard decisions, like the when i wanted to drop out of uni. I also seek support when i need to organize my thoughts a little, because i feel like my mind is a mess when facing a specific challenge, like searching for a job. Asking other´s experiences with adhd, ocd, EDs and their specific struggles on the forum helps me a lot too. However currently, I have the biggest need of keeping the positivity in my life going, maintaining hope and focus on the things that are going well and truly matter, so focusing on more positivity focused support, encouragement and sharing my joy with others.

@Sadcat13 I absolutely love the quote "give it to God and go to sleep!" Of all that I read during this interview, I really loved this the most and how you went into detail with how things work out. "Cast all your anxiety on him..." because our Heavenly Father really does care for us and want the best for us. I am so glad that you remember this very powerful quote to help ease some of the worry off of you. I also admire your realness and how you were honest about not having a self care routine that is consistent. I can appreciate the fact though that you do recognize it is important and that you do it on day to day as and when you see fit. Thank you @Heathermarie95 for another great interview with another amazing person. <3
@YourCaringConfidant awwww, thank youuu. I´m so happy it resonated with you too. I was bit worried how will the quote be recieved as in the circle´s i moved in for the last few years, faith was quite frowned upon. But i´m working on getting courageous enough to speak up about it when it is true and relevant like in this case, as the quote i live by is connected to it. Having faith is cool, and i want people to know how much comfort there is to be found in God and faith is not just something for our grandma but very much a source of strenght and comfort for us too no matter where we are in life.
You guys had me at "Give it all to God and go to sleep." This is what I struggle to do during my battle with severe health anxiety. There's not a single day that I didn't feel well. I absolutely agree that getting enough sunlight can help alleviate anxiety symptoms. 👌
@Ervie i feel you there. I have a health ocd that developped into an ed (arfid, with fear of aversive consequences subtype) My days are filled with anxiety to the brim, but this quote always helps 😊
