there she goes again - poem
have you ever seen her?
she never sports a smile.
some would like to say,
she won't be here awhile.
"happier people live longer",
they'll tell you all day.
but what if she were to smile,
in her own special way?
pen to paper bliss,
a night under the sheets.
an afternoon alone,
is the solace of she.
we live in a world of constant clatter.
so why should it matter;
that there she goes again,
against the chatter?
@tokkittalgi I really liked the odd, discordant style of this poem; the irregular tempo, uneven syllabic stanza composition, and shifting of rhyming scheme from alternate lines, to abandoning it completely, before closing out with an onomatopoeic trio.
Added to that is the way the narrator's voice seems to be talking to us, but I suspect is more self reflecting, almost defensively self justifying. And then we get a stanza that look likes we have direct access to the object of the poem's inner world, as we see the very personal safe place of comfort; 'pen to paper bliss, a night under the sheets, and afternoon alone'. It engenders sympathy, so that by the time we reach the last stanza and the narrator brings the audience into the poem ('WE' live in a world of constant chatter), we fully embrace the objects position of moving and existing inside this aggravating noise of everyday life.
Very nicely done.
@tokkittalgi
NICE!! The poem was arousing and kept me thinking and nodding!😁 keep it up!!
@tokkittalgi Really really GOOD!
'She' represents more than just the person spoken about but all people who don't talk much and refrain to get involved so called 'worldly troubles' (Like me..heheh XD). It feels like she is in her own space. It feels nice that she she being herself and not like others holding onto a mask and a fake smile. GREAT JOB. keep it up!!
