Poetry with Starla!
Hey hey, guys! Welcome to my very own poetry thread!
I'd love for all poets and writers to throw their emotions into words and create something unique, something beautiful.
Even those who have never written, come and give it a try! ^^
Unleash the poet in you. ๐
So much great poetry here, I love this thread! I will try to improvise something now off the cuff based on my feelings today:
In the shadow of a long face
Sometimes there is grace
A mad-hatter looking grave
Paid the piper to go away
Too little sleep, too much of
Working the hard nerves
Where the old things want to grow
But behind that great shadow
Stood the sun, shimmering
A day that should have been bad
Lit up those same nerves
Put the mad hatter to bed,
And covered him with leaves
Now goes the soft, kind one
Plying an honest trade and trying
Trying again, to pave the new ways
Some journeys only stay at their ends
So he looks back at the past
Like a broken friend
It's hard to say how strange a feeling is
When it waltzes in your soul
Letting you know, you always have a choice
To be the one in control, and whole
Sitting in the Dark
Sitting in the dark
Looking at the stars
It felt so hard to look deep in heart
Smiles of tears and tears of fears
Has torn me apart
From sweet laughs to sweet small smiles
Goofy chats to somber talks
I never knew I grew up so fast
Those sparkling eyes
Dreamt of highs
Unaware of the upcoming lonely fights
Missing your warmth
Missing your hold
Without you it feels so cold
Sitting in the dark
Looking at the stars
It felt so hard to look deep in heart
(It's about missing self love)
(I am open to suggestions)
over and over, again and again
losing of innocence, losing of friends
the empty is getting much harder to fill
the sweetness is gone from lifeโs bitter pill
still climbing upwards, life always goes on
no joy anymore, the light is all gone
walking together up the difficult slope
the gaining of knowledge, the losing of hope
Spring Beautys sway, in the breeze, among the blades of grass. The sky is blue, with cotton clouds, the pond a blue pane of glass.
The wind caress's my strands of hair , sends goosebumps down my spine. The warmth of sun upon my face. It is Joy I find.
Ever present songs of birds and buzzing of a bee, children laughing, giggling such a sight to see.
I relax with book in hand the scent of summer I breathe in. I wiggle my bare toes the most glorious feeling!
Finally as dusk falls, the fireflies come out and play, the cool air wraps around me , the flannal blanket around me lay. A crackle of the fire. The smell of camp smoke sweet and strong. We will smell long after that. On everything we have on. As eyes begin to get heavy, we wander off to bed. Thanking God for big star skies. And days unending just like this.
I ground out this little bit of doggerel a couple days ago...tell me whatcha think.
(CW: dirty humor at the end. I couldn't think of something for the last rhyme)
Blue Moon
She lands amidst the green of life,
She looks around admiring the strife.
Her aura speaks a naive baby blue,
Her future burns a fiery crimson hue.
Turning ashes into fire,
And the sky into blue moon.
Little black petals cascade around her,
Where by the beginning and destiny does she falter.
Specks of hope between oceans of tears she reaps,
Where by beginning and destiny, an answer she seeks.
But little does she know,
That fatefully so,
The answer lies in the blue moon,
The sky she so fervently metamorphose into.

This poem sort of holds a special place in my heart as I wrote it during a time of change :)
@Starlasky thank you so much for inspiring poets and writers to pour out their passion here. Read some of your poems too and I am BEYOND amazed. Keep doing what you do! ๐
Because I can't sleep, & because that is not unusual for me, I finally got up & typed this up:
INSOMNIALAND
Lying in bed staring at the ceiling
Just like nights uncounted in Insomnialand
Wondering pointlessly, why you can't sleep
(like the day people)
Knowing that you're paying for burning the gas
for too many nights in your twenties
and every night will be this futile dance
up to the point where you'll get to rest forever
(The blessing we all fear, pointlessly)
Lying in bed staring at the ceiling
Occasional noise from the parking lot:
A car as someone comes home from a bar
Barking dog, chirping of a very dumb bird
Muttered conversation, an occasional laugh
Distant sounds from the dumpster...
(A raccoon, or a bum looking for cans?)
Until daylight when your energy is never
When the day people go in the sun, fearless
(of UV rays)
Miss you
Miss being happy & calm
Miss being around your arms
Every day, Every hour, Every now and then.
I wish you come here and lift my soul
Without you, I am just a goldfish in an empty bowl
Simply trying to escape this lonesome misery
The warmth of your body will end my dank shivery
I know it's over for you and I am a forgotten memory
Someone who you loved and will always love truly
But you are through for protecting me and protecting us
And I respect your decision for boarding on a one-way bus
Go on, be safe & sound
As I am walking back to the burial mound
What matters the most
The first time our eyes met & the way we stared
The time we spent and thoughts we shared
Go on, don't look back.
Just go on.
Edmur
Goodbye blue sky.
