Thank you for this read. One of the points that made a lot of sense to me is micro-aggression.
In my profession, student affiliates, provisional members, and full members receive a copy of the professional body's magazine. It's sent out to members every month and has about 50-60 pages.
The key demographic for the professional body is that it is 60% caucasian.
I've been receiving the magazine for three years now. I've never seen an article, a report, or an image of anyone bar caucasian members. It actually put me off for a number of years actually becoming formally accredited within the profession.
It's unintentional I expect but for those of us that have been subjected to institutional racism throughout our lives, it's very discouraging.
