💗 How are you feeling today?
feeling kinda we guess angry and well upset with things we can not really change. they are things with family. we feeling we have no one we can count on to help at all when needed offline.
💗 What is something you're looking to this year?
just keeping things with others as positive as we can. looking forward to the safety and peace. that we have now being grateful for even small things we have now in life. looking forward to church and small group at church too.
@stormieandpaws
Aw, makes sense that you'd be feeling bitter that you're not able to rely on your family. 💜 (Or was there something else you were feeling angry about besides that?) And I do hope that you're able to have more positive experiences with that "created family" of your church and small church group.
@QuietMagic
we more angry about the abuse and now they claiming there was not abuse. my dad keep saying things were different then. but he also say kids today need to be spanked as that part of the problems with kids today. he say they run their parents. but we disagree with him due to we only obeyed out of fear of what he would do to us. to us that was never a good thing to fear your dad. but he see it as respected for parents' he not get it was not respected but was fear of him.
we angry about a lot of family members actions. but not bitter about things done to us. we choose to forgive as it a actions and not based on emotions. that belief we have partly due to our faith. it hard as people who know us as a child say we was happy delightful full of joy and other things. so they think we did not live in abuse at all. but from very young age we held emotions in and ware a mask around others. we was taught this and to always have smile on our face, even when we was hurting deeply.
@stormieandpaws
Gotcha, yeah I think I remember us discussing spanking before and how there's a lot of research showing that it does more harm than good.
And that's a good point that respect and fear aren't the same thing. It's possible to have respect without fear, fear without respect, both, or neither.
Also makes sense that some people might misunderstand what happened when you were younger because you were very good at masking. Things are not always what they seem to be.
@QuietMagic
ya you right on with this many kids like us only feared their parents and was to scared to not look and acted happy wear a smile even when in great pain so many of us who was abused did that many still do
@QuietMagic
