aghhg im kinda scared to post this since the paranoia area is so empty, but ive recently discovered paranoid personality disorder and i feel like i can identify with a lot of the symptoms. however, ive been like this all my life, and i dont know if my symptoms are ‘extreme enough to be considered a disorder. moreover, a huge part of ppd seems to be hostility. i wouldnt consider myself a very hostile person, im less assertive. any tips on identifying what im really feeling? i dont know if i have paranoid personality disorder, but im not sure what else to call my paranoia.

Hi there @arahex :) Sorry for the late reply! It can be difficult to identify your disorders or feelings by your own without professional help. It can be important to talk to a therapist/professional if you feel your symptoms are intense or interfering with your life. About the symptoms, you don't have to have all the listed symptoms to be identified in a specific disorder; what are the symptoms you identify with? If you feel like you want to talk about the way you feel you can always Pm me or any of the personality disorders listeners! Thank you for posting to this community ❤

Hi there @arahex, welcome here! Sorry for this late reply. Your post is in the perfect subforum section, no worries about that :)

It think it is a very good thing that you are taking care of your mental health and looking for information. I personally think that receiving a proper diagnosis can help us understand ourselves better. I am posting you a couple of links to videos I find very instructive on PPD. I am also planning on writing a few posts about the different PDs with info taken from the DSM and other resources, but it will take me some time.

I would also encourage you to reach out to a therapist or psychiatrist in order to get a proper assessment. PDs cannot be self-diagnosed, but we can certainly share our thoughts and insights on them to professionals, in order to get the best support.

There are a few therapists here on 7cups that list Personal Disorders as their area of expertise, you may perhaps also consider this option.
