I thought that maybe a dedicated space to have long form conversation with peeps might be nice. I am starting this thread by adding a few nice friends I know from MCR. Anyone is welcome to join us!
What should be the primary purpose of this thread remain open to debate on. But what I am thinking as of now is just having a space for larger conversations that allow us to express things in a more systematic manner which isn't interrupted by the "instant" message system.

My username is this way for multiple reasons haha. I was trying to express that my repertoire of music is very limited haha. I was also trying to make my username sound like LesMiserable. I think LesMusicals was taken and that's how I ended up with LessMusical :D

No worries my friend! 😊 ❤️ Most wouldn't remember my full screen name around here. Most just think of me as Froggy, Froggie, Froggo, Frog, Ribbit, or Snoop Froggie Frog, lol 😊 That's okay. The "15" in my name has no significance, what so ever. Just thought I should have a number in there and so tossed it in for the purposes of alliteration. It just sounded pretty 🐸. (smh, showing my girlieee side on that one).

I'm doing well today 😊 Just busy, as usual. Thank you for asking! ❤️ For today, I cooked a batch of spaghetti sauce to help get ready for my future house guests. I had already made some of my typical sauce and put it in the freezer to thaw for later, but was just recently told that one of the guests coming has a specific dietary concern. I duplicated the recipe, but replaced one ingredient with another. One of my house guests had requested that we all have spaghetti one night so this makes it work.
Makes things easier to cook as much as I can prior as somethings that I'll be cooking won't freeze as well. Less dirty dishes to back up my kitchen also so it gives all of us more time to spend together. I'll still make a salad to go with, a loaf of french bread, roast a bulb of garlic in the oven for an hour the day of and we can have a nice garlic and butter spread for the bread. Not sure what I'll make for desert that night. I still have time to figure that night out.
How are you doing today? ❤️ Are you settling back in nicely after your trip? That was quite a distance and I imagine it took a bit to adjust to being back.

Yes, of course! I would be more than happy to share recipes with you! Sounds like fun to me actually! I have a variety of what I call "tried and true" recipes that are favorites of mine as well as others and many of them really aren't that complicated to make. Trust....if I can do it, so can you! Much of it is simply being able to read, follow directions, etc. You got this! 😊
I appreciate you sharing with me your current cooking level (past convo in MCR). I know that things can be a bit daunting or even scary at first! We all have to start somewhere no matter what the task at hand is. We are all new at everything, at some point.
Knowing this, I certainly wouldn't try to provide recipes that require over the top, Master Chef cooking techniques (there will be no flambe lol 😊), no difficult to find ingredients or ingredients that wouldn't have additional purpose for future recipes (Marsala wine (costly and goes bad quickly), saffron (costly and also limited usage), etc. or odd/expensive cooking apparatus that isn't multi-functional, rare usage, difficult to operate and so really is more trouble than what it is worth when trying to find storage space. (that kind of stuff takes the fun out of it all unless one is operating at some advanced skill level).

The first time I joined cups was when I was still a undergrad student. At that time, cups was a much shorter operation. It was a small knit community which was more geared towards listening to people. It did not have any member group chat at that time only a few listener chats.
Fun fact, initially 7cups had a payment / tipping model for the listeners.
I think as it happens with most new things, the initial feelings were highly positive. And I would say the positivity sustained for long! Cups was not as scaled up as it is today and the listeners were given better training and they had a much better support system.

Thanks for joining us in this conversation :D To give you a bit more context, we were discussing a bit over what parameters may determine the gap length between two "generation". I claim that as the number of agreements over two generation increase their gap shrink, as as the number of disagreements outnumber their agreements, their gap expand. In this setup, this term "generation" it not rooted in a timeline of age rather it is expressed in terms of people's practices, beliefs, so on. While this characterization is somewhat abstract but I claim that this essentially captures other forms of differences we could come up about.
The second claim follows the implication of the first claim, if we have many many generations with one set of shared values, it is possible that this idea of aged-generation may not be as strong; as Labidus put it, instead of having distinct generations, we might instead have a coalesced sense of generation where each time/age based "generation" has agrees over most of the principles agreed by previous time/age based generations; essentially they are mostly homogeneous.
Labidus agrees with me regarding the formulation of the problem above. With this setup in mind, we started to discuss one "engineering" (where we try/hope to make up solutions) problems. The problem states, how can we elongate generational gap between two sequential generations? Like if we could / did have that power of enacting changes in people / society / nation; how would do go about it?
Now this question may seem weird, but there is a point that I have in my mind. But I don't want to just say the point, I would rather have us reach the point organically (to whatever extent that's possible haha)
@LessMusical In the case that it's possible to eliminate any
incongruences between generations, it's probably no longer useful to
think about it in terms of the temporal framing anymore since now the
difference in values, conditions, and ideas between individuals within a
generation would be bigger than the differences in those things between
generations as collective sets of individuals if that makes sense. In a
practical sense, to achieve this kind of thing hinges on thinking about
what generates the difference between people as it relates to their
historical
moments. Unless all generations were exposed to the same unchanging media,
politics, education, material conditions, environment, culture in a
deliberate program there would probably always be some kind of
difference between generations based solely on the specific unique
dynamics of all those factors at
play during the times they were around. If you can somehow maintain these parameters to a high degree of consistency then you will have, at the very least, a situation where the differences between the people in one generation are larger than the differences between people between entire generations. It would still not be a perfectly homogeneous society of course since people will still adopt different values and beliefs, but there would not be any obvious difference between generations

Hmm. Well put.
I agree that within this shared set of values that people agree over in order to be resistant against of this idea of temporal generations, there seems to be similarity of culture, technology and modes of entertainment.
I think at finer granularities there will always be differences. There will be varieties due to geographies, technology available, cultural traditions etc.
But I we both agree that there is still possible for a diverse folks still adhere to a broader theme of similarity.

My claim and view is that human history is a heritage for everyone. All the bads and the goods of it. And by owning this heritage en masse. We might achieve a content of generation which is resistant to politics, technology and cultures of the moment.
My contention is that this is how we achieve greater agreements.
