Hey guys! I've found I couldn't really find an active thread offering a community for people on 7cups with OCD, so tada! I decided to make one. I am a teenager from America who has suffured from OCD since I was about 7, maybe? I've been a listener on 7cups for at least a year but I haven't had much, if any, interaction with my fellow Obssessive-compulsives. So, what's your story?

Feel free to also message me if you have OCD!!

@ppeachess Hey ppeachess! Yeah, I've been on 7cups a little over a month now and I'm surprised that there is very little specific support for people with OCD. When I first checked the forums I was excited to find an OCD thread, but it looked mostly abandoned. I wish they would have OCD discussion times too.

My OCD has calmed down some, at least compared to how bad it used to be. I've had it since I was 10 or 12, but I wasn't formally diagnosed until this past August. Middle school wasn't great having to suffer through it basically on my own, because part of the OCD said that I couldn't tell anyone (my mom was the exception when I had panic attacks). Now it's all culminated to OCD, anxiety, paranoia, and mild depression just for fun. I'm glad to know that there are other people on 7cups who are struggling with the same obsticals that I am facing!

@ppeachess Hi Peaches, nice to meet you.

A violent event occured last year, and someone I love very, very much died. :( I have been seeing a therapist about that event. But on the flipside, we also started seeing symtopms that fit the OCD symtopm set in a pretty textbook display. The more we exanimed, the more we realized I've had OCD my whole life and I never knew it. I thought everyone was this way.

Mine is pretty non-apparent. I guess there's something called Pure-O, and that's exactly what I have. I swear, I thought everyone thinks this way. It's weird to be suddenly told that you do things that are unique. It hasn't been a problem until I experienced the trauma event. Now my OCD is going insane, to a level I've never experienced before.

I'm navigating through a lot of weird and scary stuff. Sometimes I don't know what to do. I'm glad these forums exist.

@Coconut2939 It's always tough to lose someone. It's hard because I was there until the end and I could have done so much more to make the outcome different. When you go see horror movies, you think you know who you are. People say all the time, "God I would never do that, stupid horror actors always make the worst decisions." But that's not true - when you're in a really scary situation, it's possible to act in ways you never predicted you would.

On top of it all, I'm in my early twenties and my therapist says this is a really common time for mental illess to become apparent. Especially with a stress like this. Suddenly, this OCD that I never knew I had is here. I think I've had it my whole life, it's just never been obsessions that are bad or dangerous. It's always been healthy things. Maybe my obsession on practicing guitar is a little intense for most people. This whole time I thought my weird habit where I have to memorize poetry is just a personality quirk. But that stuff isn't hurting anyone or myself, so of course it goes unnoticed.

Hahaha, but now it's all turning evil and it's not nice things anymore. It's pretty intense right now and I feel like I don't have control of anything. It's scary out here.

Yeah unfortunately it seems like OCD forum here is not as active as others. My story? I have been living with my obsessions for about 8 years now. I didnt know what they are and that it is OCSD until recently when I went to see professional for my anxiety. Now when I know what exactly I am dealing with I hope I can put my life back on tracks.

Btw, if anyone wants to have a support partner (or to make kind of support group) feel free to write me. In my city I couldnt find any support group and as I live abroad I have a language barrier problem as well. I think it would be good to talk to someone who is going trough same situation and understands it.

@Coconut2939 I'm sorry it took you so long to figure out what it was. Sometimes being properly diagnosed can be awesome. I know you went in for anxiety, but realizing you have OCD is helpful. It's a relief to have some sort of track to be on. I hope you can find ways to manage yourself.

I would be into a support group. My therapist said I should find a group, but there are none in my area for OCD. I'm not quite sure how to organize one, but Coconut I would sign up for one if it was on here.

I think I'm going back to school and I'm anxious. My scrupulosity OCD, gets worse when I'm at school. Classes start in a few days and I just started considering this as a realistic option today. (It's a community college so it's fine signing up for classes this late) I'm probably going to pick a class outside my major first just to restart slowly with less pressure, but I'm still stressed about it. :(

@ppeachess I got throught the first day of classes and I'm doing well! I'm taking two easy classes, rather than four or five hard classes, and the extra time will hopefully let me dig deeper into what I like about each class, instead of panicking through piles of homework.

Hi, I was diagnosed with OCD tendencies almost a year ago, Im 20. Had it since I was 16. It has been a tough road and Im glad you have opened this community to helps us, and of course each other. I suffer from a lot of intrusive thoughts and let me tell you they are heck terrifying. Being here with each other would def help us overcome and have each others back when we all need it. Thank you again :)

@Dol1996 that's tough, but I'm really glad that you are here with us. This is the age people get diagnosed, geez. I am close in age with you and have a similar story. I hope you are able to keep your symptoms under control. It's really hard sometimes, but we understand what you are going through. If you need anything, even just an ear to listen, feel free to pm me.
