Hello everyone!
What are some of your favorite song lyrics? What do those lyrics mean to you?
I'll start:
"For anyone who's ever been through s*** in they lives. So they sit and they cry at night, wishin' they'd d**. 'Til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe. We're nothin' to you, but we're the f***in s*** in they eyes." - Eminem
This line from Sing For The Moment reminds me of the many days I felt like I had nobody, but I always had Eminem in my ear. Music can help us get through really difficult times in our lives; it helps validate how we're feeling and often lets us know that we aren't alone 💜

I love that song! Music can definitely be incredibly comforting and powerful!
I also really
like “Guess there was a time when my mind was consumed
But the sun comin' out now, clouds start to move..” Small World by Mac Miller. I find these lyrics very comforting and a reminder that the sun comes out eventually 💜

Hey Joy! It's nice to meet a fellow Eminem fan, Sing For The Moment is such an iconic song. I never listened to much of Mac Miller outside of his big hits and some features, but he's such a talented rapper. I listened to his song you suggested, it's really good! The beat is very soothing, I love the piano that comes in as well as the unique flow he uses. The first Mac Miller song I ever listened to was "Knock Knock" which I still think is a really good song, such a throwback. Thank you for the suggestion 💜
@CJHere2Help The Light from disturbed. The entire thing is so good it is impossible to single out a part i like the most, so here is a link to it https://youtu.be/Qr1UOfvMFt0?si=LGxw2WS1qKiHmBlD A masterpiece about hope and resilience with some undertones of being through stuff
@sadcat13
Just checked this song out, it's really good! I've heard some music by Disturbed before, the lead singer's vocals are beautiful. The lyrics as well are empowering, my favorite is "For when your world seems to crumble again, don't be afraid don't turn away, you're the one who can redefine it." Thank you for suggesting this amazing song 💜
@CJHere2Help I love their songs too, they always carry so much meaning and artistic quality 😊
1. "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron
I had all and then most of you
Some and now none of you
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
These lines just ring so true for me when going through and then analyzing a breakup afterwards. The way Ben delivers the lines adds to the chilling feeling when thinking about how at one point you gave and received so much only for those people you two were faded away and now don't exist at all anymore.
2. "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)" by Bright Eyes
But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me
The entire song is great and has very meaningful lyrics to me but the part I've highlighted really fascinated me the first time I heard it. I can see it resonating how I believe Conor meant it by using songwriting as a cathartic experience to express and process his feelings in a time when he's emotionally vulnerable after being hurt. But I also relate to it on a personal level by hearing songs that were "our" songs for different relationships. Listening to them afterwards always puts me in my feels but when I go awhile without hearing any of them, I'm ok and not bothered.
I can't choose a sentence from the lyrics of "You Are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson, "If I Could Fly" by One Direction and "Sign Of The Times" by Harry Styles. Those songs are basically my life
‘Everything you lose is a step you take’ - You’re on your own, kid by Taylor Swift.
@CJHere2Help the entirety of the song "you might not like her" by maddie zahm. especially the last verse and the chorus :
Someday you'll think you disappoint your parents
But they'll love you, not despite but regardless
Then you'll learn to let people have *** opinions
And talk about your traumas and like the body you live in
Someday you'll learn to keep your own secrets
Say you're doing okay and really mean it
You'll lose your faith a bit and question if she's you
And for a while, you might not like her, but I do.
This song was a pivotal point in my mental health journey. I have changes so much as person in aspects of personality, faith, identity, appearance, likes/dislikes, and ideals since I was a child and this song really brought that out and taught me how to love myself and embrace those changes.
