I have to get caught up on the things this week that I ignored last week because I was trying to get assignments finished.
So I pull 107 reports for up to 11/4. From 11/5 on they aren't there. Not wanting to, I ask the manager about it. He says "Oh yeah. It's a glitch. We knew about it and the supervisors knew about it." But the person who deals with the reports (me) didn't know about it. Why would I even think to ask about it?? Don't casually say things like it's common knowledge because it isn't. Stop sharing things with the inner circle and inform all interested parties of things like technological setbacks!
So tired of how things are done here.
Supposedly it will be fixed. Have no idea when.
I put the pro in procrastination. 😅 The weather has been unseasonably warm so far but that's all coming to an end. So it's a mad dash to get the plants into the greenhouse. Got another outbuilding built to store the skid steer in out of the weather. The other one was just a canvas carport and was slowly collapsing. This one has telephone poles for corner posts. So it's not going anywhere for awhile. It's bigger and has shelves to store things up and out of the way. Which freed up space in the shop. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a bit of a pack rat. I tossed a lot of things. Anyone wanna bet I tossed something I'll be in need of next week? 🤪

Wow, thats a big deal! storage storage storage. I would love to find time to build a shelter for my equipment but I'm afraid I'm much more of a pro than you are. LOL 🤣

@IsayUncle Thanks! 😊 There never seems to be enough storage space. It does feel good having that done. It took awhile to do tbh. A little here and there but I'm happy it's done before the snow flies. There's even a big light in it in case something needs worked on

Me Too. Overall, I've been pretty fortunate this year. Not exactly where I wanna be but a strong runner up. But better is better and I hope next year is better for everyone too. Let it be let it be!

I'm on a mission to fool clean the house... If that's the case, all I have to do is walk out the door.
Luckily, that is not the case because it is raining outside.

This year has been weird in a sense that so much got done but it got done in a way that felt like going through extra struggles and delays for things that weren't even supposed to be there in the first place. So maybe this year was just the learning part and the next one will be where we get to put our best in the best way and not in some sort of rushed manner. No matter how it ends or how much gets done when we get there, I think we still deserve a "not just survived but actually tried to live" badge <3

Think I'm at a point with work where I can do the end of class survey and mark the class completed. Need to check the registration to see if it'll automatically enroll me in the next course or put me on pause since I've hit the maximum on credits for the semester.
If it is a pause, I want to download some JavaScript projects and maybe remove the site I had to build and do a portfolio site
Oh. First, I have to finish mandatory training for work
@Enthenia Hey that's awesome! Congratulations! 😊 Are you hoping for a pause? It might be nice to have a break from classes after all the hard work you've been putting in.
@mytwistedsoul well everything was starting to get overwhelming. The class, work, the dog...
My next class is Business Ethics for the IT professional. Sounds like a class that will have a lot of papers (not that I mind papers) so I wouldn't have to learn a new programming language. But for me to make myself more employable, I need to get a lot better at the languages.
@Enthenia I think with all that going on, I know I'd be pretty overwhelmed too tbh. A business ethics class sounds like something all the supervisors should take too 😅
@mytwistedsoul breaks just aren't going to happen. I checked my time off balance (had a few minutes before lunch) and I have a balance of 121 hours which I can't use because of my workload and I'll probably lose most of it in January because it gets reset then. I know it's not on my hire date because that passed already.
The secretary said to go to HR but I'm not doing that again. That just causes more trouble.

It sounds like they're using fear as a disciplinary tool against their employees.
@IsayUncle yes. It's just not worth the trouble. And that's why I don't really take time off because there's no one else that can do my job. Taking more than a day will just make me further behind and I'd be stressed about playing catch-up when I got back. So any relaxation I got would be instantly wiped away when I got back.
@Enthenia They don't even pay you for that time you're not using? Omg they really do suck there! They don't have people cover for anyone if they use their PTO? I swear it seems like they intentionally set their employees up to not succeed there 😞 And to not be able to go to HR because of it causing you more trouble - that's not right at all. Could the labor board do anything?
@mytwistedsoul no. The corporation that bought the company out doesn't do that. Use it or lose it (wish they did buy up unused vacation time. Would rather have a check than extra days off). In retrospect, I think perhaps it got reset on my hire date because I think the last time I looked, it was at 80 something hours. If it did change from the first of the year for everyone to the individual hire date, nobody said anything about it (which is typical).
As for the other, it's just better to suck it up and deal with it on a day by day basis. After my experience with the write-up, HR, and everything, I know the odds are against me. And, they can spin things in their favor (they did it before) so it just isn't worth it.
@Enthenia Yeah a little extra on the paycheck is always a good thing that's for sure. It's just really lousy that they treat their employees so poorly. And that they've made HR basically pointless to have there if all it does is cause more harm than good. I have to admit that I have a lot of respect for you that you go in and do the job the best you can every day, even though they make it harder than it needs to be. I do look forward to a time when you can tell us you've found something else and you told them all to stick it where the sun doesn't shine 😁

@Enthenia I was thinking about you today and what you said about it taking awhile. You're using the time wisely and educating yourself. You'll take what you're learning now into your future. That's a good thing for sure.

Have to do research for the new class. Have to pick a company and write about their ethics policy Said I could usey current company but I'd rather be objective. There's about five papers for the course, which isn't bad. Won't be ten assignments like the last two courses.

Sometimes the practical part IS the ability to follow instructions or a process... just saying. 😊
I remember in 9th grade, a teacher gave us a 1 page paragraph to read, with verbal instructions to sign the bottom of the paper if we understood the paragraph and turn the paper back in.
So of course, almost everyone just signed the bottom of the paper and returned it.
Literally, The first line of the paragraph instructed us not to sign the bottom of the page after reading the paragraph but to return the paper with the signature line blank. LOL! GOT us Good! 😂
Yay... a lighter course. I hope it's not harder though. 😬
@Enthenia I think @IsayUncle has a point. I know I have to really watch when I'm given instructions because I'm terrible at paying attention. There could be a need to pay attention to detail. I hope having to do the research isn't hard either. I think it's a good idea that you're trying to be objective. Yeah wow five papers sounds much better than 10! I hope they're easy to work through

@IsayUncle I don't know about all that. It's just a regular day for me.
And no break. I was automatically enrolled in the ethics class yesterday. I thought there was a limit on how many credits one could have in a semester. Either I haven't met it or the rule doesn't exist. I'll have to look at an overview of the course once I get some work done and that other mandatory training video I have to view.
