[OLD THREAD] Project Achieve Your Goals - 18+

Laura December 2nd, 2015

Setting goals is the easy part...reaching them can be more challenging!

Having someone support you in reaching your personal goals can be incredibly helpful. Today, wed like to announce a new community program aimed at helping you reach your goals.

Well need both listeners & members to make this happen! Here is how you can get involved in this project:

Members:

Step 1: Post a goal youd like to work towards in this thread. Be specific! Goals work great when you can make them measurable. Usually that involves a time period and a number of times. Additionally, you want to start by making goals achievable. Do not make your goals too hard or you will grow frustrated and not be able to reach them. Much better to make them easy to accomplish to build your confidence right from the start.

examples:

I want to cook dinner for myself 3 nights per week

I want to go to the gym 1 time per week

Take 3 growth path steps every day

Step 2: Specify if you'd like a listener to check in on you 1 or 2x/week.

Step 3: Wait for a listener to reply to you! They will reply and let you know they will support you reach this goal.

Step 4: PM this listener to get going! They will not be able to support you by checking in on you if you do not first PM them. If you find that a listener has not followed up, then please post again and request another listener.

Step 5: Post your progress each week in this thread and also on your feed so more people can support you in achieving your goals.

Step 6: Once you have achieved your goal and the new behavior or habit has been consistent for 21 days, then apply for the Goal 1 Badge. We'll likely have several goals, so there will be Goal 2, Goal 3 etc. (Feel free to help us come up with better names!)

Listeners:

Step 1: Wait for members to share their goals in this thread! When you see a goal/member youd like to support, reply to their forum post and let them know!

Step 2: Once this member has messaged you and established connection over PM, its your job to better understand the members goal, why its important and what you can do to best support them.

Step 3: Make a commitment! Check-in with this member twice per week and enquire about the goal!

Step 4: Let us know how you and your member are doing! In this thread, we will track your progress as team. Post here to let us know how it's going!

Step 5: After your member has reached their goal, let us know and apply for the Coach badge. More details on this soon!

I would say I want be less angry and lazy and fat. Stop making people around me upset just by being there...

but out maybe just praying for a fatal heart attack is better - more tolerable.

SPNFamilyForever December 7th, 2015

I wrote my goals before but now, after few days of thinking about my illness, I decided that I have new goal: I want to learn how to accept my mental illness and I really want to speak up and fight against the stigma. I would be so thankful to those who are willing to help me go through the process of recovery.

@SPNFamilyForever your goals are beyond inspirational and really touched my heart! Stigma and acceptance are some things I'm especially passionate about so, if you're open, I'd be over the moon if I could help support you achieve your aims! Whenever you want, pop in my PMs and we can talk! Looking forward to hearing from such a wonderful person! Hugs

I wish to overcome my body image issues and want to work on lowering my anxiety and stress levels since these usually lead to self-harming.

Any listener that would be willing to take this journey with me, I'd be more than happy :D

@Brightheart3 sorry to hear that. I have body and face issues myself and they can kill your confidence and make it hard to make friends. It also makes depression worse. In your case it might be anxiety. But I want you to know that you are important and you deserve respect and love like everyone else.

@Brightheart3 I'd love to be a part of your journey because I'm sure it's possible, wrong: I know it by my own experience! I'd love to help you overcoming this! Feel free to message me, I usually don't bite💛 Don't worry if I might not answer immidantky but my timeline is EST+6 which makes it still possible to talk about your goals and dreams!

Hi,

I'm a 23 year old female who has been dealing with anxiety and depression. I mention my age and gender because I would personally feel more comfortable working with someone of the same gender and around the same age.

I would very much appreciate having someone to help me kind of organize my life and hold me accountable for doing things. I find that I have difficulty with mustering up effort for even the simplest tasks sometimes. My motivation and interest in things seems to come and go. I obsessively make lists, I worry about forgetting to do something, but I don't tend to complete many of the goals on these lists and procrastinate a lot. I recently resigned from my job and really need to be productive about job searching, but I guess it's the depression and maybe anxiety that makes that really hard sometimes (and for doing things in general). I feel like my mood tends to change often, though. If there is anyone willing to help out, and doesn't mind being patient and offering reassurance and encouragement to someone feeling really overwhelmed and sort of paralyzed to even start some tasks, as well as hold me accountable (in a gentle way if possible; I'm way too overly sensitive), I would so appreciate it.

I apologize for the long post. Thanks so much for your consideration!

I went to the doctors today & last week I went to go see Christmas lights with my church group. I'm getting more involved with my PTK chapter, they've asked me to be an officer for next year! I just have to keep my grades up! Learning to branch out to other groups of people outside my comfort zone has been fun

Hello! Well, these are quite simply easy things, but they are things that I want to do!

Write an Album
Although I know it's very difficult to make it big, It's my lifelong dream to write an album. Not even record it, just write a storyline through music.

Create A Personal Plan For Anxiety Attacks At School
Surprise surprise! Most of my anxiety attacks happen at school (Yes, I am a minor). I want to have a plan for what to do when they happen, and if they don't dissapear.

Talk To Someone About My Class That Gives Me Anxiety Every Day
It's not even a hard class, it's an elective. I don't know what it is, but every day as soon as I walk into the classroom my brain shuts down and I'm flooded with anxiety.

Thank you to anyone who considers me!
Katie (Female,14)

@wittyPlace3750 well good luck. It's very hard to lose weight for most people. I'm trying to lose a few pounds also.

QueenBey December 8th, 2015

Hopefully we can do this together! This year my weight has gone down and I do look a lot different to what I use to be. Unfortunately it is not easy and I have been very up and down in the scales. If it makes you feel good, I did start at 95kgs myself. Currently I weigh in at 85kgs, however the past few weeks have been fluctuating (sometimes goes up to 90kgs!!).

Hopefully we can connect and motivate each other. I feel like we're on similar pages.

I like the idea of choosing small goals, accomplishing them for 30 days to make them a habit then moving on to a new goal. Here's my 1st goal:

To attend 2 fitness classes per week (Sun - Sat)

Start date: Dec 6
