@coffeetalks3723 I really enjoy just reading anything that catches my eye! Reading helps me get out of my own head and to focus on the story at hand. It's almost like going into another world for a little while :-)

I've been reading The Choice: Embrace the Possible by Dr. Edith Eva Eger and I really like it, it is very compelling and it's a nice glimpse into the practice of self and therapy of a therapist.
HOWEVER, big trigger warning, she writes about her experience in Auschwitz concentration camp and her subsequent trauma process.

First we make the beast beautiful this book is highly recommended for anxiety

The Book of Silence and How To Be Alone by Sarah Maitland are good for those who don't know the difference between having time to ourselves and being lonely.

The body keeps the score

Beverly Engel - The Nice Girl Syndrome_ Stop Being Manipulated and Abused and Start Standing Up for Yourself (2008) , helped a lot with trauma and shed a lot insight regarding learned helplessness.

Loving What Is by Byron Katie
This book and the included exercise helps one to accept things as they are and disconnect from automatic emotional reactions.
Trigger warning, there is a place she addresses sexual abuse toward the end which can be very challenging to read. If one wants to use this method with abuse and violent victimization, it may be helpful to work with a therapist.

Those sound like good books. Looked it up. I like the alone one and the body keeps the score. I do suffer anxiety and depression but couldn’t find more info on that one. I tried looking up that body keeps the score one and don’t have it on app
