Hey all!

I would like to extend this little space for everyone to share their experiences with mindfulness. Either A feeling you might have felt while meditating. Example: While meditating I feel extremely elated and find myself feeling as though I'm swimming in air, dancing to some unknown melody, but I'm moving effortlessly and it's so exhilerating!

OR

Perhaps something during your day that was enlightened to you even if it was indirectly related to mindfulness. Example: I usefully get agitated when given very strict narrow deadlines at work, but I realized that after I have started doing mindfulness meditation exercises, I find myself more in control of myself and have a more positive doable attitude towards the deadline. I think mindfulness is working!

I often cry during mindfulness exercises, especially those that bring me in contact with my spirit guide, God, inner wisdom or higher self. I feel like I've been so disconnected and lost and it is such a relief to see my God or someone who I long to see during these exercises.

I've also stopped eating in front of the TV. I want to really taste and enjoy what I put in my mouth.

@Chiaroscuro1 Wow, you put to words something which I experience too. The crying, the mourning, the grieving that suddenly becomes apparent when I meditate and get in touch with our higher selves / spirit guides / angels / higher wisdom ... etc. Wow, so glad you shared with us :)

When I start to feel like a situation or thoughts are taking me out of the moment, I start counting the breaths while breathing naturally, 1 on the inhale, 2 on the exhale, up to 10 then start at 1 again.

It helps me learn to focus on breathing and this moment rather than getting involved in a chasing of thoughts and emotions.

@Aventurina yes mindfulness can be used in all of life. I find with yoga that doing things mindfully helps me do yoga with less stress.

Sometimes my mind if whirling so fast I can't concentrate on the mindfulness meditation, I know that by practicing the meditation for however long you can do is ok but I'm really struggling to turn off. Any suggestions?

Thank you for asking this. :)

There are many kinds of mindfulness exercises, and not each are intended to 'sit still and ''quiet'' your mind'. That's not quite the right concept of it being Mindful :). Mindfulness is about AWARENESS. That's the key word. so...I have a couple of suggestions:

1. If you wish to 'get out of your mind' try finding a physical meditation - such as dancing, or drumming, or smelling tea, walking, drawing, Tai Chi, yoga..anything physical. Focus on physical sensations to ground you, and be fully curious about the way something feels, or it's sound or it's texture and smell.

I myself favourite a drumming meditation, but I've tried the others too and they all offer a great experiance. :)

2. If you still intend on wanting to sit still to follow a quiet meditation, I suggest that you try cultivating the observer in you. If your mind starts racing, try noticing how your mind is racing. How many voices are there? Who are these voices? Do they remind you of someone? How is the racing mind making you feel in your body? Is there tension associated with it? And where is this tensions laying in your body? One might assume that the tension with a racing mind is within the head, but you'll be surprised if for example you find out that your right leg is totally tense and you find it harder for you to move it whenever you have a tense mind. When you have better awareness of yourself, then have more options and choices on how to deal or handle the situation.

Remember: What you resist, Persists.

Sometimes it's important to 'go with it' and see where it leads you, rather than trying your best to suppress something that is clearly not wanting to be suppressed. :)

Hi everyone,

Where can I find an easy mindfulness exercise, please? I've always dismissed it as "not my sort of thing" (I know, shameful! Lol) but, I've seen so many people around the forums telling how helpful they've found it, that I've decided to give it a try. Thanks in advance!

@braveSugar7964 - There are mindfulness exercises as part of the growth path. Or you can go directly to them by clicking on "My Path" and then "Mood Boosts". Then you can pick an exercise. Don't give up if you don't like the first one you try. They are not all the same. Find some you like.

@braveSugar7964 Glad you are exploring the practicalness of mindfulness. Here is one that stands by me when I have troubling thoughts or emotions.

"While breathing naturally, silently count one on the inhale. Two on the exhale, three on the inhale...continuing up to 10. Then start at one again. Allow the breath to be naturally but belly breathing can be more relaxing if that is natural."
