The opposite of hustle culture
Hello everyone! I swear this post does have to do with mindfulness!
I just wanted to take the time to talk about something that's been on my mind for quite a while. I've seen mindfulness talked about a lot in the scope of slowing down, a coping mechanism to combat or deal with 'hustle culture'. And while it's a great technique to use, I find myself actually getting discouraged by all of these messages online and in real life such as "it's okay to slow down" or "Take time for yourself." It's not that these messages are bad or incorrect or anything, but I find myself suffering from something that's not the 'majority'.
I'm suffering from the opposite of hustle culture. I'm not talking about laziness. I'm talking about not being motivated, feeling disinterested in tasks, having self-doubt so strong that I delay work that needs to be done. Being so much of a perfectionist that I don't even start. I still get depressive episodes from time to time, which makes these feelings that much worse.
So although these encouraging messages to combat hustle culture are fine and true, I cannot really relate to them. Because instead of needing to slow down, I actually need to speed up.
Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts I wanted to share. Please if you also have been dealing with this sort of thing as well I'd love to hear your thoughts! I am told mindfulness and meditation can also be used to find motivation and energy, but I still consider myself a beginner in the practice and wouldn't mind if anyone shared how these techniques helps them become motivated.

I can somewhat relate to what you have said…im in a small town and run our own business and not as busy as I would like to be. But, when it comes to depression help, I can tell you that the best thing I ever did was started doing a daily guided meditation. As a man, I had resisted meditation for years thanking it was kind of a sissie thing to do. Boy was I wrong! It’s better than medication and virtually free (I use the Calm App…I like how they guide you through every step so you’re not thinking “am i meditating yet?” the whole time. It’s like mental weightlifting and it absolutely works if you’re consistent…just 10 or 15 minutes a day. Also, there’s a podcast where the guy has personal struggled mentally for decades, but he’s really upbeat with super helpful advice. It’s called “The Mentally ill Mentor with Dave Miller”. Best part is that it’s completely free to listen! Best of luck, man…you CAN do this!
