Several of us wrote 7 Cups for the Searching Soul back in 2016. It outlines some of the key lessons we learned in our community along the way. To begin, read through the Introduction and Chapter 1. If you don't have the book, then you can download it for free on Amazon here. If you do not have access to Amazon please download it here. Once done reading, post here to earn the soul searcher  badge.
In this thread, please answer the following questions:
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
2. What was  most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?  Â
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?

1. I'm glad that the person who wrote the book believe in me and not interested in judging me even though I'm a stranger to them.
2. Sometimes people use the wrong coping mechanism for dealing with fear and anxiety. But the only cure to fear and anxiety is true human compassion. Sometimes among the poor and hurting, they have no choice but to care for one another.
3. Make a safe space where they wouldn't be judged. And remind them that there's nothing wrong with asking for help.
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction? nothing stood out to me
2. What was  most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?   I dont think there was a big important lesson. i felt like the beginning was jumping around and i couldnt read any more of it.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger? if you see your friend hurting let that person know you are here for them and be patient with them.
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?:
The 7Cups of tea by Lu Tong
The power of helping and caring for others.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
To give and seek help yourself and that you should confide in other people - not trying to fix everything on your own.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
To realize that we all need help at some point and that it's okay to ask for it. We can do this by showing empathy and to offer help. And maybe share our own experiences to show the person it can be helpful.
1) What stood out to me the most in the introduction was ‘we are not interested in judging you’. I think this stood out to me the most because it also mentioned that we all have regrets and have done things we wish we hadn’t, and it really validated mine and I imagine many other people’s feelings.
2) Throughout the story I learned not to live in denial. As in the book says about people using medication to ease their anxiety instead of actually getting to the root of the problem, they essentially made the root worse and harder to control. Through this, I learned that avoiding the problem will not fix anything and it only masks the main issue.
3) We can learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea of asking for help by letting people know it is okay to ask for support and help and by us modelling this by asking for help ourselves when we need it. If we do not ask for help when we need it then we are not setting a positive example. It is important to support people who want to ask for help and validate their feelings.
@GlenM
Q: What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
A: What stood out to me was how everything was said in the introduction but I also learned some things from watching the video. I learned more about my circle of concern, my circle of influence and something to remind me of my circle of influence.
Q: What was Ä most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (chapter 1)?
A: I was a bit confused on how to find this chapter. While I was reading it I loved how it was written and it made me feel different kinds of emotions. It had trust, hope and love all tied together.
Q: How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea of asking for help?
A: We could become more open and try to be honest to people close to us, if we’re open and honest to the right people and accept their help we could feel a lot better but also understood, we aren’t alone and there are people who understand us. Here on cups people can ask for help and even though we’re all strangers we can understand each other, we don’t know each other on cups and that can also be a reason that finding help to strangers is a bit easier sometimes.

1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
The thing that stood out to me the most was this line: "We don’t want you to have to continue to carry a burden that you can drop beside you." I think it perfectly captures the essence of what the book is about!
2. What was the most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?That denial doesn't get rid of the actual issue at hand — it just masks it for a while. It is best to face your challenges head-on, even if they might hurt you at that particulat moment.
Also, I particularly loved this line: "He was able to show that in places where human need persisted, among the poor and hurting, people had no choice but to care for one another and provide for each other's needs."
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
By letting people know that it's okay to ask for help. It's nothing shameful — everyone needs help.
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
The final point of the page, which said that personal growth is not a straight line, stood out to me. Social Media often depicts a picture-perfect straight life of people making us disappointed and depressed about our own lives and progress which isn't linear, not does it look easy as it seems to be like in social media. So the sentence really hit home for me.
2. What was  most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?  Â
The lesson taught me that hiding away from problems never helped one to overcome it, it was by facing it through persistence, compassion and kindness among one another.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
Asking for help, especially when we really need it is a task which we find great difficulty in. I think that trough effort, patience, kindness and compassion one can bring forth that habit to ask for help, and even help one another.
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction? The introduction focuses on how to face and overcome difficult situations in life and how to care for others by believing in them and not judging them, which will eventually help people realize their own potential.
2. What was  most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?   The most important lesson I learned from Ancora is that if we don't let others help us, we're stuck and can't move forward. However, if we open ourselves up, we can only improve, and that's also good for our overall mental health.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger ? We should accept the fact that we cannot do everything on our own, and it is okay to ask others for help. If we ask for help, we will always learn something new and gain knowledge. If we do not exclude anyone, we will not feel excluded. In this way, we will be encouraged to help each other, and the community will grow and become a better place to live.
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
actually the empowering others to believe in their own potential and the starting few sentences that makes me to continue reading it .
2. What was the most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
That trust and hope is a cure against fear. That fear only increases when you run from problems, you become more sensitive and exhausted to smaller problems.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
Asking for help helps us acknowledge that we always need someone in our life. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and we should use it as an opportunity to build better, and make the best version of ourselves.
