Several of us wrote 7 Cups for the Searching Soul back in 2016. It outlines some of the key lessons we learned in our community along the way. To begin, read through the Introduction and Chapter 1. If you don't have the book, then you can download it for free on Amazon here. If you do not have access to Amazon please download it here. Once done reading, post here to earn the soul searcher  badge.

@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
I really like the 7 cups of Tea by Lu Tong.
How to face things and overcome, tap into the power of caring for others ..
7ucps focuses on rendering help to people irrespective of their language, background or belief.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
The Ancora people are typical demonstration of what we are experiencing currently especially with the COVID 19 pandemic. As social distancing is the focus and campaign about the virus. And this has made many people to have mental and physical challenges.
Thus, being close to one another and rendering help and care is the ultimate to healing and robust life. Loneliness and seclusion will only aggravate the problem and it doesn't help by any means.
This is the understanding I got from the Ancora people as their scientists tried all they could.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
We can become more open and willing to receive help from others. By doing this, one is demonstrating he doesn't know it all and need the help of another person. And one should live with the consciousness that two is better than one.
We can help others to seek help by giving a listening ear with empathy.
We can continue to grow with strengths and skills always and then we can use what we learn to help others .. we all can grow together and not feel alone or out of the loop or not feel part of a community. There is nothing wrong with asking for help and giving help to others, it is pretty normal because we humans.
I downloaded the book last year when joined 7 cups and have it saved. I really enjoyed the book.
Thanks
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
The thing that stood out to me most in the intro was the last part, the 3 main ideas (we believe in you, we are not interested in judging you, and personal growth is not easy) that were told up front. It really made me smile and think.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
The most important lesson I Iearned from the story of Ancora is how trust, hope, and love (two out of those three words are in my username haha) was the cure, as was human care and compassion, and how asking for help is so important and can help you solve a problem.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
We can learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help or experiencing need is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger by showing empathy and compassion, and offering support when asked, as well as reaching out and checking in. We can also show that we are not afraid to ask for help ourselves, that way we can be encouraged to help others, and can be an example for others.
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
It gives a sense of warm and confort. Its written by the people for the people.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
How we take things for granted. We often put our needs/feels before others and focusing on that makes us think we are dealing with issues properly given our needs/feelings are taken care of. But the truth is thinking of others and helping one another is way to heal and heal others. Which is more fullfilling
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
Talking/sharing about our lives/concerns is a good way to reach out. One does not want to share things that happen in life wiyh a stranger. So sharing and care is something that will help one another grow stronger.
@GlenM
What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
I loved that poem.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
We can fix every problem in this world by love and compassion.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
We first need to love and give them compassion. Show them that it's okay to have needs and ask help. They are only human.
@GlenM
What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
I liked the emphasis on that growth is challenging but at the same time, it does not make the person feel overwhelmed as it sounded encouraging with the metaphor of path being there always for us. I felt like mentioning that there are lots of people out that who never believed they could get better but they had managed to do it with hard work and basically it is like a human ability to adapt and we just need to discover how. I feel it can give a person lots of hope and I find it impressive.
What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)? *
I found it interesting how it says that the more people tried to escape their pain and fear, the more sensitive they became. I think this is what happens in most cases of mental health problems. Not everything is a problem to solve, in the real world; often it is a paradox to manage instead (Quote by Esther Perel). And a paradox is often cyclic, e.g. phobias (the more we fear, the more we avoid, avoidance fuels the fear and the cycle repeats).
How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is the strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger? *
I think we can help others to get more comfortable with the idea of asking for help by normalizing the fact that they have problems and that it is nothing to be ashamed of as everyone struggles once in a while. I think that the idea of others being problem-free is simply an illusion as the book describes well – The unspoken rule is that problems should be hidden and kept out of sight. Therefore, people should realize that it is okay to have problems and not being able to deal with them alone. I think it is important to emphasize that often even specialists ask for help because we will always look at our situation personally and not have the distance that we often need to find a solution or feel better. I think that acknowledging these things would encourage a person to seek help.
@MoonlightHelper1
Great job at getting all the details out. You clearly go the concept down!
@MoonlightHelper1
You are right that even specialists ask for help because we will always look at our situation personally and not have the distance that we often need to find a solution .
@MoonlightHelper1
This was such an indightful and detailed answer, well done!
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
1. The one thing that stood out to me in the introduction was believe- believe in yourself. There ares situations we all undergo but we are trying our best and it be more potent to believe in ourself.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
2. The most important lesson learnt was that asking and receiving help is the most difficult but would be the most rewarding. Each culture and nation have ways and reasons to cope but reaching out is a great way to overcome obstacles.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
3. We can learn and help others to get more comfortable with the idea of asking for help or experiencing need by being more caring and compassionate. By being non-judgement and compassionate can give the person confidence to reach out. Compassionate listening and care will increase positivity, allowing the person to cope and reach out.
@crystalclearnow
Awesome job with your answers :)
@crystalclearnow
I think you bring up a good point about making sure to show compassion and non-judgment to help others to feel more comfortable with reaching out. Thank you for sharing.
@crystalclearnow
I agree that Compassion is the key
@crystalclearnow
We sometimes forgot to believe in ourselves. Great point that you make.
@GlenM
1. What stood out to me in the introduction was implication it made that life is not easy and neither is improving yourself, but it is possible if you believe in yourself and try hard.
2. The most important lesson I took from chapter 1, was that our biggest problems come from being stuck in a state of fear and discontent. But, using the right resources, we can battle our fearful states and better improve our lives. Another important lesson is that not everyone has easy access to the resources that can arm us with the ability to fight our states of fear and discontent, so they need help from others. Laslty, avoiding fear and negative emotions only makes them worse, which is why mental health is becoming an increasing issue; humans continue to mask their problems instead of facing them.
3. What we can do to help others realize that needing help is a strenght is show that getting help gets our needs met when we cannot accomplish them ourselves; when we ask for help, we get help; when we get help, we are influenced to help others. Asking for help initially starts a cycle of helping in which enriches our world and communities.
@CognitiveACE
Nicely said! Well done!
@CognitiveACE
I definitely agree with you, humans do seem to mask their problems and we try to be too independent in solving our problems, which is leading to a mental health crisis.
@CognitiveACE
It seems life gets harder. Do you think it gets easier when you have a great community around you?
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
".Your life makes sense. You make sense in the larger story of your life." I often feel like my life is going nowhere especially because I am currently waiting to get into college and forget that it is all a part of a huge puzzle and I need to keep faith.
2. What was the most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
We needn't hesitate to ask for help and that love, trust and hope is what makes us give our best to others.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
We could show them that it is human and each one of us experience it. And explain to them about how getting help for themselves allows them to help others.
Thank you!
Hi @Grace8402
"We needn't hesitate to ask for help and that love, trust, and hope is what makes us give our best to others." ◀ No doubt about that. Love that you stated that 💙
Hope the wait to get into college is over now and best of luck for college life!
(●'◡'●) see you around!
@ouiCherie
Thank you so much! 🥰 And yes, the wait is over, I wish you good luck too! 💖See you! 😄
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction?
The fact that it is so easy for us to blame ourselves for the bad things that have happened. We are our own worst critics and dont have to be. It encouraged us to forgive ourselves and the hard times are part of our growth and well worth it. We have to give ourselves a break.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)?
The most important lesson I learned from chapter 1 is that the people with the highest needs have the most compassion. They have hope and are willing to help others in the same situation to make it less sufferable for them.
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger?
We could be proactive in checking in with others to see how they are doing and asking them if they need help. A lot of people want help but may not or do not know how to ask for it. Even letting others know you are getting some type of help and them seeing you progress through that journey may help them take the initiative in their own lives to seek help.
@GlenM
1. What was the thing that stood out to you most in the introduction? I really felt good reading the three pieces of advice. My favorite was when they told me they believed in me. This made me step back and realize that everything will always be okay, no matter how I am feeling in the current situation.
2. What was most important lesson you learned from the story of Ancora (Chapter 1)? I realized that masking our problems only creates more of a problem for us. We are sweeping our problems under the rug until they become unbearable and then we are forced to deal with a huge problem. It is easier to be open and ask for help because you will feel better in the long run and then be able to help others in similar situations!
3. How can we learn and help others get more comfortable with the idea that asking for help - or experiencing need - is a strength or a skill that we need to develop to help one another grow stronger? I think the best way to help others express the need for help is to share what we ourselves have gone through. Sharing experiences creates intimacy and trust.
