We are truly lucky to have a global community, rich in background and culture. In order to nurture our diverse community, we should each make a conscious effort to understand each other. The more we know, the more mindful we can be of one another's differences.

Advantages- we learn a lot from each other, different perspectives and ideas poured onto the table, helps with personal development and liveliness.
Avoid stereotypes, be respectful, be open-minded, be patient, be forgiving and give consturctive feedback.

By considering time zone differences, considering availability of others based on their cultural events or practices, overcoming stereotypes, considering 2nd language learners and helping them feel included too.

Some advantages of a diverse team are a larger and broader range of perspectives, the ability to reach people outside of our own community/culture, the ability to help people, and the chance to learn about different cultures.
How can we be respectful of different cultures on 7 Cups?
We can be respectful of different cultures by rising above stereotypes, being respectful of different beliefs, and consider time differences.

The different perspectives can drive innovation-more people more ideas
Allows us to reach and help more people situated outside of our country/culture-able to be reach everyone
Covers different time zones and allows us to support people living in different time zones-having more people helps support those all over the world during different time zones.
You get to learn about different cultures and practices which adds to your set of skills. (This has been one of my favorite things about 7 Cups, I have learned so much about other cultures)
A wider range of skill sets available for the team which can fuel creativity and productivity-more people the wider range of skills and strengths.
How can we be respectful of different cultures on 7 Cups?
Rise above the stereotypes-not just assume but ask and educate self.
Be respectful of individual beliefs-not everyone lives, thinks, or believes like we do.
Be mindful of schedules and availability-be aware of different holidays, days of observances for other cultures.
Consider time zones-Be aware your evening time works well for you but could be during work hours for others.

Second Language Learners-Be mindful of the language competence of the team due to English is a second language for many. Be thoughtful of your communication

Wider reach to help more people. A sense of inclusivity to more people. An acknowledgement of the fact that English is not the only language, and the mainstream western world isn't the only culture. Different insights into the same problems as people with different societal and cultural backgrounds may think about a situation differently.
How can we be respectful of different cultures on 7 Cups?
By making sure not to push stereotypes on a person because of their culture. Being understanding with the idea that English may not be everyone's first language. Acknowledging that there are differences, but they do not mean we as people are fundamentally different.

ESL learners may say something that sounds like a subtle insult... confirm whether they are being passive aggressive or just confused about word choice.

Hey I agree that ESL learners might use language that can sound like a subtle insult. My dad is learning English and I always thought he wants to provoke people he sent text messages to lol. But it's just the way they're taught is not necessarily used commonly in social settings :)

We get to learn about different perspectives & cultures that contribute to innovations & helps us improve set of our skills.
Diversity helps us to serve people better irrespective of the timezone differences.
When people come together & their set of skills meet each other - it fuels creativity & productivity.
Irrespective of our different cultures, beliefs & traditions when we work together - we grow & develop as individuals.
How can we be respectful of different cultures on 7 Cups?
We must avoid adding fuel to stereotypes - There are many social stigmas pertaining to a particular group, culture, caste, religion, etc. but we must not generalize people based on those unproven social stigmas. So, we must welcome people with open hearts irrespective of their background, values, beliefs, education, caste, gender, sex, profession, personality, etc. No one is similar to another, we all are different from each other due to which we all will have our own ideas, opinions, values but that doesn't mean that we shut people off merely based on our differences. We need to be mindful of how we deal with people because our level of sensitivity is also different from each other. One person may be more sensitive than others, more sentimental than others. We need to be mindful to not hurt other people's religious beliefs - if a person is an atheist but we are not, we must anyway respect their beliefs & vice versa. If a person holds other religious beliefs than us - we must respect them too. We need to avoid imposing our beliefs over others come what may. We need to understand that people come from different countries & must propose a time that would suit better to both the parties. We must also not forget that not everyone has proficiency in the English language as it is a second language for many of us. We must not mock people just because they cannot talk in English with proper grammar, punctuation, spelling usage.

Being open minded. Be patience with others that is finding things harder. Being accepted and understanding to those who sees things in way that you do not see things.
