Hello everyone,
If you are reading this, it means you have come a long way in your leadership training. Kudos to you for all the effort and resilience you have shown! It is amazing how you all are open to learning and adapting to new environments: the environment of leadership!
Before we zoom in and talk more about learning and adapting, lets zoom back out first and talk about how you feel about leadership. Regardless of how you see yourself, there is a leader within you. The one who visualizes how things could have run in a better way if you were in the leading spot. Leading spot here means:
A desire for change;
Believing you got the abilities to make it happen;
Visualizing success while keeping in mind the bigger picture.
To lead others effectively, you need a good blend of 4 broad competencies area
If you have a surplus amount of knowledge on how to lead but not a good emotional quotient (EQ), you will find it hard to tackle leadership challenges. Having a good EQ is as important as having the right skills, and if you have skills but not the right attitude and values, you won't be able to achieve your full potential as a leader. Your attitude and values impact how others view you as a leader. We need an alignment in all 4 areas.
You have your very own leadership style based on your competency level. So, the next step is to label your original leadership style. Because you can switch to any leadership style with deliberate effort, thought, and adaptation.
Daniel Goleman categorizes leadership approaches in 6 broad styles. Authoritative, Coaching, Affiliative, and Democratic help one to promote harmony and positive outcomes while Coercive and Pacesetting styles of leadership need to be used in specific situations as they could cause tension.
Your original style could be one of them. So for the purpose of this course, we are going to use a leadership style test to help you identify your core competencies. In brief, we are using the test here to help you identify your leadership approach. So, when you know how you approach an event, you could think and put efforts to bring a change in it. It will allow you to polish your strengths and focus to improve in other different areas as well.
Lets get started!
- Please take the leadership style test here: https://www.energir.com/blogue/en/at-work/quiz-what-kind-of-leader-are-you/

3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
trying to satisfy all of them causes a lot of stress need to work on the urge to try to satisfy all of them
@incrediblelistener78
I have the leadership style. What do you do to prevent stress especially when your stressed out?
@TheRusticMystic74 seems like a lot have this style haha
My leadership style is affiliative leader. One thing I learned about myself is that my leadership style involves helping people work together or alone if they need to. One thing that I would like to improve is if I have to pick is Emotional Intelligence because I can always work on myself to make myself a better leader.
@glowingSoul93 We are the same type of leader! :D
1. What is your leadership style? Affiliative leader

3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon? I would like to act more like a leader. Listen to people's opinions but also share my beliefs too.

I learned that my greatest strength is my ability to motivate my team to make sense of changes in the company.

4. Please reply to 3 of your peers in this thread!
Done!
@Zarram77
Yes communication is one area skill that is definitely needed
@Zarram77
Same. I think my communication skills need some working on too
@Zarram77
Communication is an important point. Sometimes we need to really clarify our points with people especially when it the points are crucial to the operation of a business.
@Zarram77
Great that you're able to motivate people so well!
@Heather225
1. What is your leadership style?
My leadership style is an affiliative leader
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
One thing I learned about myself is that I like to see the team that I am in, excel and work in unison.
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
One thing I like to improve is well I noticed that in the description it said, satisfy others, I want to slightly disagree with that point. I try not to satisfy others because sometimes not all decisions are effective.
@Heather225
1. What is your leadership style?
Visionary
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
That I have a very clear and strong vision of every situation, so I can appropriately define the purpose of each project.

Not being too harsh on my team members when I'm irritated.
@Elise849
Sometimes we all can be a bit harsh toward people we work with when things don't go as planned. I agree with this point.
@Elise849
I agree with your points, Elise. Communication is essential for a leader, without a proper communication the leadership foundation isn't strong. So, enhancing good communication skills is the key to a successful leader.
@Elise849
That is sounding awesome, Elise! Visionary sounds about right, and improving on teamwork skills is always a good start! :)
1. What is your leadership style?
A commanding leader (You have a very authoritarian leadership style)
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
I'm not surprised with my results, but I do disagree with the bit about not planning too far ahead. I'm always strategizing and thinking about the future.
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
Like any commander, I'm pretty happy with myself, but then I wouldn't want to work for a commanding leader, so of course there's a limit. I believe I'm the only commanding leader in this whole thread. I noticed lots of coaches and affiliative leaders. Don't panic, though. I do have situational awareness and have the EQ to know when I'm being domineering and stifling innovation.
@GoldenNest2727
Regarding the not planning too far ahead comment. Maybe there is a limit to how far ahead we plan. Sometimes plans change so it can be difficult to plan too ahead in the future.
@GoldenNest2727
" I do have situational awareness and have the EQ to know when I'm being domineering and stifling innovation".
That sounds like a great leadership quality, Nest!
@GoldenNest2727
Hehe, I think there is value in all types of leadership and from what I've seen/know of you I'm not worried!
@Heather225

I am an affiliative leader
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?

@Train1
I can relate to not being assertive, I think there's a fine line between assertiveness and dominance which can sometimes be tough to distinguish. So in my perspective, assertiveness can perhaps be implemented through experience and knowledge of working as a team.
@Train1
Lovely that you're good at easing tensions between people. Conflict is common on the workplace because there's so many ideas floating around, so that's such a useful skill to have.
@Heather225
1. What is your leadership style?
Democratic leader
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
I have learned that I'm a collective intelligence leader. I encourage people to participate in decision-making and polish their ability of innovation and creatively to the greatest by practicing by good listening skills.
My strength is my ability to motivate the people I work with.
To sum it up, my leadership style is "Teamwork - together we active more"
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
I would like to improve on my problem solving skills , I think as a leader that's the fundamental aspect.
@Harsvin
I can really see you as the democrative leader! Keep all the good work up!
@Harsvin
We're both democratic leaders :D
I like that we value innovation and hearing from all of our team members too!
