Hello everyone,
If you are reading this, it means you have come a long way in your leadership training. Kudos to you for all the effort and resilience you have shown! It is amazing how you all are open to learning and adapting to new environments: the environment of leadership!
Before we zoom in and talk more about learning and adapting, lets zoom back out first and talk about how you feel about leadership. Regardless of how you see yourself, there is a leader within you. The one who visualizes how things could have run in a better way if you were in the leading spot. Leading spot here means:
A desire for change;
Believing you got the abilities to make it happen;
Visualizing success while keeping in mind the bigger picture.
To lead others effectively, you need a good blend of 4 broad competencies area
If you have a surplus amount of knowledge on how to lead but not a good emotional quotient (EQ), you will find it hard to tackle leadership challenges. Having a good EQ is as important as having the right skills, and if you have skills but not the right attitude and values, you won't be able to achieve your full potential as a leader. Your attitude and values impact how others view you as a leader. We need an alignment in all 4 areas.
You have your very own leadership style based on your competency level. So, the next step is to label your original leadership style. Because you can switch to any leadership style with deliberate effort, thought, and adaptation.
Daniel Goleman categorizes leadership approaches in 6 broad styles. Authoritative, Coaching, Affiliative, and Democratic help one to promote harmony and positive outcomes while Coercive and Pacesetting styles of leadership need to be used in specific situations as they could cause tension.
Your original style could be one of them. So for the purpose of this course, we are going to use a leadership style test to help you identify your core competencies. In brief, we are using the test here to help you identify your leadership approach. So, when you know how you approach an event, you could think and put efforts to bring a change in it. It will allow you to polish your strengths and focus to improve in other different areas as well.
Lets get started!
- Please take the leadership style test here: https://www.energir.com/blogue/en/at-work/quiz-what-kind-of-leader-are-you/

This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.
1.) I think my leadership style is either Affiliative – create emotional bonds and harmony – or Democratic – build consensus through participation.
2.) One thing I learned about myself is that being able to communicate casually is not enough, but I have to be able to communicate effectively.
3.) I'd like to improve on my personal vision. I tend to think ahead, but I never really think "outside of the box" or have a solid vision.
@bubblyJulie
I sometimes play it safe too, and I go with what I know, and you should definitely strive to go beyond that to have and even better outcome than intended!
1. What is your leadership style?
I got communicating vision 76.
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
I learned that maybe I need to have more confidence in the ideas that I present. I am really good at communicating and have a relatively high EQ (I think) but sometimes I lack confidence when it comes to leading. If I can be more confident I can improve how excited others are to work with me on projects. I also feel like I do a pretty good job at communication and making sure my teams feel good about the work they are doing.
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
As stated in question 2, I’d like to work on my confidence.
@InvaderStitch
Hi Stitch! I hope you are doing well (: I am really happy to hear that you are really good at communicating and have a high EQ, and I have to say that, gaining confidence is really hard sometimes; however, confidence definitely does inspire and motivate people to work better on different projects! Having an excellent skill at communicating and making sure everyone is updated is honestly super important in terms of getting things down and really just making sure everyone is aware of what should be done. Thank you for sharing!!
@InvaderStitch
This is a nice reflection! Becoming more confident is also an awesome goal!
@Heather225
1. What is your leadership style?
Communication Vision (79)
According to your answers, you are likely able to envision a clear direction for your company and communicate your plans in a way that excites others. This is an essential skill, because employees will be much more willing to achieve a goal if they are passionate about it. Remember that the manner in which you communicate your vision is essential. For instance, if you present your ideas to others in a confident manner, they will likely go over more easily. People who excel in this area are innovative visionaries who are confident in their ability to persuade and convince others. They consider it essential to make those they lead aware of, as well as part of, their vision.
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
That I need to be more confident in my abilities
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
Communication skills
@amiablePeace77
I think all received a similar answer. This is not any of Dany Goleman Leadership Styles. You have to pay to get that info
@amiablePeace77 @WelcomeToChat
*high fives* to both of you. I received the same answer, and although the test did not explicitly mentioned which type of Leadership Styles we have, I rather think that it matches the best with "Authoritative (Visionary) Leadership." Here is something that I found useful about learning more about these different styles <linked here>.
@amiablePeace77 I love that you have learned something from the test, and that it is to be more confident about your skills. I wish you luck on improving your communication skills and increasing your confidence too!! (:
@amiablePeace77
Do you see applying these communications skills in your personal life as well?
@Asherwolfice
Yes, I do, trying to say very clearly what I like to communicate, still learning though.
@amiablePeace77 I appreciate how you can envision things happening. I think you perform at a level higher than you give yourself credit for. I think you have potential to expand as a leader.
@soulsings
Thank you for these kind and motivational words soul!

@Heather225
1. What is your leadership style?
Communicating Vision
2. What is one thing you learned about yourself?
According to the test, I'm likely able to envision a clear direction for the company and communicate the plans in a way that excites others.
3. What is one thing you would like to improve upon?
Maybe my communication skill. Even though the test said: communicate with confidence and enthusiasm is my strength, I think I still need to work hard on it. I think it's essential for others to understand my vision and be persuaded. The second one would be a reality check on my ideas, sometimes being too passionate about it can lead to an unrealistic goal or complete failure.
