little rant of mine

maxisthebest February 10th

Tw:// suicide, miscarriage, sh, sex offenders, sexual harassment, physical altercations, autism (could be triggering, not sure), vapes, rape,

(All of these names are fake, not real names)

I just want to cry, genuinely. I hate everything rn. there's this girl named "Autumn" at my school, and she told everyone a bunch of lies about me. I hate her. We WERE friends, but she stabbed me in the back. Literally.

Disclaimer: My sister has autism, keep this in mind for the next situation you are about to read.

Then, on top of that, my mom was dating a sex offender, named "Joesph". She broke up with him because my family found out. Keep in mind, we are in the middle of a court case right now, and the court has been notified, and my judge is extremely upset with my mother. She had brought her boyfriend around me and my younger sister who is turning 12 on Feb. 29th. He has cuddle my sister, made him sit on his lap, and has touched me inappropriately. When I walked into him cuddling my sister, I lost it. I had my phone in my right hand, my vape in my left hand, and my pocket knife in my pocket. I threw my vape at him, and got my sister away from him.He left me and my sister alone after that.

My mom said it was no big deal when my family found out about it. Keep in mind, this has happened before.

So, the other night, I asked her why she did it. Why she put me and my sister in danger, and why she said it was no big deal, when its clearly a big deal. She ignored me, and lied by saying "My lawyer told me not to tell you because it's an adult situation", but I was involved in this situation, so I don't understand why I can't know. I personally think its BS.

Then, on top of THAT, she canceled our visit. So, I canceled our visit after the one she canceled on me, and I canceled the next one (Monday).

And I want help, I do. I just truly want it at HOME. I don't want to go inpatient, I wasn't to get better at home.

Just my rant, I guess.

hey love maxy. i’m so sorry this has happened to you. you DO NOT deserve any of this. i was so shocked reading this all. shocked about the lack of emotions in people sometimes. and shock of how cruel the world can be. reality is the world can be a scary place.

im so so so so immensely proud of you for taking care of your sister. that is legit. wow. amazing girl. i have a younger sister as well and i felt this to my core. if someone did that to my sister i would’ve- im not sure what i would’ve done but i know i would’ve done something like you did.

you’re mom is. well. she doesn’t deserve you. girl needs to deal with her problems without mixing up the both of you. i hate how parents think that things that happen in the house are “adult things” for just them. they are not when it affects us kids. which genuinely sucks

you are so strong for living and fighting everyday for literal survival. and i don’t blame you for thinking the way you do. honestly i’m just proud you’re able to talk about it. i hope your stepmom and dad help you. and can express your feelings.

you deserve to be in this world because you are a light in this crazy place. you make things happier just your strength and determination, your guts and instinct, your emotions and feelings. they all make this place better.

i know words can’t fix everything but i hope you can keep going. you’re so strong. i’m so proud.

love love and hugs

You described a most serious & unsettling situation.

There isn't much advice I can give that would help...not from here, anyway. This is because from the overall tone & word choice, you seem to be a teenager or a young adult. Late teens, maybe. If so then your options are limited, for now. 😔

You could notify the appropriate authorities...if you pick that option then first you must document everything that happened to you & your sister due to your mother's negligence. That is what she is engaging in: negligent conduct...quite likely, criminal negligence. You ought to write it all down anyway whether you contact CPS or not...it could come in handy later (you could sue!). Write it all down in a journal--dates, times, what happened, everything--& make d***ed sure neither your mother nor her b/f can find it or get access to it. Whether it's on your hard drive or paper doesn't matter, though if it's on a computer you can make it a password-protected file so no one else can read it. Be sure to include names; be as specific as possible.

If you do contact Child Protective Services then the caseworker will, if she's worth her salt, get ahold of the police who will then go in & do their jobs. What your mother & Mr. Gropey are doing is against the law (in civilized nations, at least). People have served prison time for that kind of thing, & rightly so. The catch is that if your mom & her per.vert main squeeze get picked up, you either go live with an adult relative if you have any or wind up in foster care until some kind soul adopts you, or until you age out of the system. The real catch is that you & your sister will almost certainly be split up...multiple siblings are not treated as a single unit.

Unfortunately that may be the best possible outcome. Kids run away from home because of situations like you described, but I do not recommend it. The streets are hard enough for grown men; for women--& more so, for girls who aren't yet grown--they can be a dangerous place indeed. The streets are full of users & predators, some as bad as your mother's b/f or worse. It is impossible to keep clean for more than a few hours at most.

Whatever you do, I wish you luck.

I shoulda thought of this earlier...some info that may help you:

  • A definition of criminal negligence can be found here. Your story almost certainly fulfills the basic requirement. You are not old enough to hire a lawyer on your own but there are court-appointed advocates for minors in California & possibly other states. (I dunno where you are, so I can't say specifically if it's true in your location)
  • Your situation is definitely abusive. Various categories are laid out & described on sites like this one. It's UK-based but--assuming you're stateside--the legal categories in US federal & state law aren't too different. When keeping your journal, this can help you accurately outline the situation with you & your sister.
  • You could also see if there are any child advocacy outfits in your area. Follow that link for info. When I was little, for a while my mom was a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) in our hometown so I've seen it first-hand, though it was ages ago. If there is such an organization where you are, you're in luck! Find its website, get the info you need & then contact 'em for help. Even if there isn't one nearby, telling an activist in such an org what you & your sister are going through just might do the trick...the more organized advocate orgs often work with law enforcement & the legal system. If your mother & her man get nabbed then you will definitely need help in navigating Child Protective Services, civil court, etc. A child advocate can help with all that.
  • You can probably find the nearest child advocacy org through here.
  • The same guvmint website also has tons of information related to your/your sister's situation, including current & specific legal definitions so you can describe exactly what crimes have been committed against you two, & by whom. (In your case, most likely your mother is committing negligence while her boyfriend is doing the abuse) Pay attention to it, as this stuff is important to know for reasons already stated...& in case you ever decide to file suit later. Remember: once you are a legal adult, as a citizen of the United States you can get legal consultation. It's one of the perks (& headaches) of growing up.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Try to stay calm, & make your moves with intention.

@maxisthebest Just checking in to see how you're doing. This post popped up in the Journals thread, so presumably you've stopped by recently.

Has the situation at home improved at all? If not, are you still living with your mother or...? Let us know what's going on, eh?

Hi! Sorry, I was taking a very long break from electronics.

The situation has gotten better, I actually went to a mental facility for 3 and a half months and have gotten way better (today was my first day back- first day of high school was today :))

@maxisthebest That's great. I'm very glad to hear (read) it.

Also, taking breaks from the Internet & associated technologies is always a good idea. Am thinking I should do it again soon myself.

Your initial post really captured my attention, Max. It's heavy stuff. I was lying in bed at night thinking about it a couple times, in fact. No child should ever go through what you & your sister endured in that horrible scene at home.

Speaking of your sister, how is she doing? I hope the two of you are in a better place now.
