I'm soon starting a new life as traveller and writer

Will it succeed? I have no idea

Here I will put some quotes that bring me feelings of excitement and that resonate with me

"That night, as I lay wondering whether I would get sleep or explosion, I got the idea instead. A man who couldn't make things go right could at least go. He could quit trying to get out of the way of life. Chuck routine. Live the real jeopardy of circumstance. It was a question of dignity" - William Least Heat-Moon, shortly before a 13000 mile trip on the back roads of America

@WhatNameidk I remember that. Read Least-Heat Moon's book decades ago...it's a must-have. Truly. A snapshot of America in the final years before the Internet Era began.

"I had gotten to Lower Egypt and was heading south in my usual travelling mood - hoping for the picturesque, expecting misery, braced for the appalling. Happiness was unthinkable, for although happiness is desirable it is a banal subject for travel; therefore, Africa seemed a perfect place for a long journey" - Paul Theroux

I like this quote because it defines the difference between tourism and travel - you don't go for the luxury and pleasantness of a vacation - you go hoping for good experiences, expecting hardship and risking the worst
