Ikigai: Finding Purpose
One of the concepts that were shared in the IDG Path is “Ikgai”. I found this concept to be very interesting.
First off, “Ikigai” is a Japanese concept “referring to the sources that bring value to and make life worthwhile”. In other words, it is concept that represents the reasoning for being, encompassing joy, sensing purpose, and feeling fulfilled. The word “iki” in means “life” and “gai” means worth or value.
There are 4 main elements in ikigai:
1. Passion: what you love
2. Vocation: what you are good at
3. Mission: what the world neds
4. Profession: what you can be paid for
To me, ikigai is my comfort zone or spot where I find myself to be happiest and fulfilled. Basically where I find things are balance and harmony comes together. I feel that it is a holistic approach that goes beyond and extends to all aspect in life.
Here are the two questions for you to answer and reflect on:
1. How does the pursuit of you ikigai contribute to a sense of purpose and meaning in your life?
2. How well are you incorporating your passion into your daily life?
I'm going to look for more information on Ikigai to ask the questions!
