Optimism

We are always told to see the glass half full instead of half empty and that is the basis of optimism. However, it is alot more diverse and complex than just a simple metaphor. Optimism shapes the way we approach challenges and opporuntities. It is the ways in which we navigate the ups and downs of life. The course lists it as ‘Ability to sustain and communicate a sense of hope, positive attitude and confidence in the possibility of meaningful change.’ But how do we remain optimistic when life seems to not be going our way? 

I have always found that optimism has driven my motivation to do better and see better. When we remain optimistic about our efforts it does often lead to success. It can also foster trust and cooperation in relationships as we help others believe in their own potential. Optimism is key in fostering and embracing the possibility of success, support, anf growth. It transforms our challenges into doors of success and allows us to face our darkest fears. 

It is not to say that optimism and hope should not be used as interchangable terms. In your opinion what is the difference between hoping for something and remaining optimistic that something will happen? Aswell, how do you remain optimistic in your own life when things are not going your way.

But how do we remain optimistic when life seems to not be going our way? 

What I have learned recently is the "AND" exercise. It involves me listing my struggle and adding something I can do to help it or something positive despite it. For example, I struggle with weight loss and I will try to incorporate more fruits and veggies. I am making sure I acknowledge my struggle and still acknowledge the positive and hopefulness. I have just learned this so, I want to start adopting this more in my life with how I frame the situations I am in. Bad things occur, and sometimes our dreams don't come true as we would imagine, but there are ways we can continue to progress. That progress may involve reaching out to external resources for help with optimism in a moment that feels hopeless.

@globalWillow3000 Optimism is something that fulfill this life, even tho it's hard to stay sometimes like that. Something that keeps me optimistic is being grateful every day, for each thing in life, even the smallest ones. 😊

I stay optimistic by finding small moments of joy, even when things aren't going my way. I also remind myself that tough times are temporary and focus on what I can learn from them💗

I think the difference between hoping for something and remaining optimistic is that hoping means you wish for something to happen rather than knowing something will happen. It's like manifesting something good. Remaining optimistic is better even when things are not looking good because you will be suffering twice rather than once if whatever you were hoping for ends up not working out.

I can try to look at the positives to remain optimistic in the future.

I am a firm believer that thinking positive thoughts will not only foster connection with oneself, but also the people around them, and has the power to completely turn around one's life. After reading the book Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself I now have scientific evidence that thoughts are a powerful tool for cultivating your desired life.
