😱 They are so pretty, where did you find them? I MUST know!

I am glad you liked them so much!

I bought the big ones on the sides of the monitor, with crystals inside (geodes), in a mine near Iguazu Falls. There is a basalt formation there (that's the reason for the Falls) and geodes form inside the basalt.

The big pink back right is a kind of granite I picked near Mt Fitz Roy to the south of my country (Argentina), it's the same very hard rock that Mt Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre are made of.

The two at the front are basal from different places. The one to the left I picked near a volcano and it's product of volcanic explosion it's full of holes like a sponge. The top right I picked near Iguazu Falls, its basalt that flowed very calmly up to the surface (when South America and Africa separated) so it's dense and heavy.

The bottom right is a piece of obsidian I picked near a volcano It's a kind of glass very appreciated in the stone age because it forms sharp edges when broken to build knives, arrows, etc. by flintknapping.

The one at the center bottom is a strange iron oxide crystal formation I bought from a miner who took it from an abandoned iron mine in the Andes mountains (west of my country, Argentina).

The round one lying down at the center is a piece of tourmaline I bought from the same miner.

There is a small calcite (calcium carbonate) crystal at the front almost invisible because it's transparent. I took it from a geode in a clay vein in a river canyon in Cordoba (center of Argentina). It looks like quartz but it's very fragile. The geode was of stiffened clay (so fragile too) and covered by these crystals inside.

YOU FOUND OBSIDIAN NEAR A VOLCANO! THAT'S INSANE! AM I THE ONLY ONE BLOWN AWAY BY THIS?! Where I live there are no rocks or gems just dust and dirt. And sometimes there's not even dirt! This is astonishing to me. That's really cool, truly an amazing collection!

There is obsidian all over the place near the Puyehue and Osorno volcanoes in southern Chile, a neighboring country to mine. It's a gorgeous vacation area. The road that connects Argentina (my country) and Chile in that area (the Puyehue pass that crosses the Andes mountain range) goes next to the Puyehue volcano.

These volcanoes become active now and then throwing lava, some of which becomes obsidian.

You have obsidian! Where I live there aren't many places to buy or find rocks or cool stones and crystals. Seriously, where do you find these precious stones?!
