My reason is to end the killing of animals.

I became a vegetarian in order to connect with the world completely. The most award thing in life is free will. The chance to mess up and become a new and complex human, a chance to succeed and have a great feeling of fulfillment. I don't pressure anyone to not eat meat. I don't eat meat because i want the chance to share a special bond with all living creatures. I eat vegetables and minerals in order to connect with my earth. This is our world, our one life, and we should build ourselves by building connections.

@Selfsearch wow, that's so cool. But I think I could bond with living creatures even if I eat them, but that's just me

I became a vegetarian when I was 7 for the same sort of reasons that y'all said above. My brothers were joking about killing and eating a squirrel. I think that was when I first realized that something had to die for my to eat a burger.

As I got older, I became more certain in my choice as I realized the way the meat industry affects our world. Beyond the more emotional reasons that first led me to become a vegetarian, there were also a lot of logical reasons too.When we want a lot of meat for cheap, it means that there are environmental and human consequences. We put a lot of resources into putting meat on the table, resources that could be put to use in other areas. We alsomake some compromises in terms of what business practices we choose, in terms of how we treat the animals, the workers, and the environment. Ultimately,I see a lot of problems with how we produce meat, and so I personally don't want to support the system we currently have with the money I spend.

@AbstractAbby I agree with you. Slaughterhouses are so cruel to animals.

Vegan here. I went vegan primarily for health reasons (selfish, I know), but I also do try to minimize my impact on the environment, so going vegan also helped me to do that. At least I hope. :)

@lovey0urself

I don't view that as a selfish reason, i view that as a step in the right direction regarding your health. Self care is important, and that includes your diet :)

I've gone vegan in the past (for about a summer) for health reasons. I never felt better. I felt energized and way happier. It's amazing how eating healthy, organic foods and staying away from toxins can change so many things about yourself (weight, mood, self-esteem).

When I was 12, I was going through physical sexual developments and it freaked me out. I heard that by consuming animal products, you are ingesting their hormones which will affect your hormones and growth as well. I stopped eating meat and eggs & dairy in their physical form.

I was looking videos on Youtube, and you know how is, you start searching about China economy and finish in an meat industry video. I think I never wondered (didnt want worry) about how meat industry works. After some research I decided to start the journey to become a vegetarian. Health was my second reason, I used to live a very sedentary life, I decided to change to a healthy style. So, I had two motifs to become vegetarian.
