Artist Introductions
Hey y'all, I'm new to the site and would love to give it a fair shake! Figured maybe I could start with an artists meet? Copypasta below, but- I'm excited to meet some new creative folk!
- What's your name?
- What medium do you work in?
- Who is your favorite artist?
- Are you currently working on a project?
- Include a piece of art you're proud of!
Please feel free to share anything else too, I wanna know all your cool art stories- I miss having more creative friends to talk about this stuff with!
I'll go first;
- I'm Laine- I'm 27 and working part-time.
-
I love experimenting with lots of different mediums. Currently I really love acrylic and also paper mache, but I'm well-versed in digital art, watercolor, and cartooning.
- It's hard to pick just one of course, but for more classical stuff I really like alphonse mucha's illustrative work and i have a long list of followed modern cartoonists that would require its own thread entirely haha
- Not currently! I am having a hard time dedicating myself to any one project. I feel bad for the lack of art I've made, but instead of being motivated to change that- I've become scared to begin any new projects at all, not wanting to leave even more unfinished. Ack!
- here's a rabbit i drew in kidpix that I'm pretty proud of! I love working with bright colors, and the limited tools were a nice challenge!
I'm excited to see what other kinds of creators are online, most of my friends are also digital artists but I LOVE seeing traditional crafted work as well!! I also just love to see people's art and comment on it, so it'll be cool to have a new thread dedicated to it. c:
@cactussoda
This is a great initiative to connect with other creatives here. Thanks for doing this.
- I'm richuyulin, which translates to sunrise over the rain that covers the forest. It's the hidden meaning behind my legal name. On this platform, I go by the nickname Lin, or whatever other nicknames others have come up with for me. I've lost track of all the nicknames. ๐
- I alternate between pencil crayons, markers, acrylic painting, and digital art.
- My favorite artist changes depending on the art style I want to draw / paint during that period of time. At the moment, I don't have a favorite artist, as my schedule hasn't allowed me to have too much free time to get back into arts.
- At the moment, I'm not working on any art project. I finish my last exam for this semester on Thursday, so I'll be looking to get back into arts a little the following week.
- Here's a piece I'm proud of:
@cactussoda Hi! I love the idea of this discussion topic! I don't have much time for art anymore myself. However, I love to see what others create!
@cactussoda
Hi there! You can call me Oak ๐๐ณ๐๐.
I am a freelance digital artist by another name which I can't disclose here for my safety, but I've been actually on hiatus due to recovery. So I haven't made any new art since (I even had a another job that lasted a year that took time away from doing art, so it's been long while). I used to study Painting in my university days, where I mostly dealt with acrylic paintings and ink penned portraits.
Then after I graduated, I moved on into digital art for about 2-3 years until now, and been investing my time on that gig. I mostly like to do fan art and other cute designs. My favorite artist at the moment would have to be Mari Shimazaki, the character designer of Bayonetta from the Bayonetta series.
I haven't been able to draw again after my crisis, but I have been looking for new inspiration while I'm on the road to recovery. I would like to make some art someday in the future that I can exclusively share here since I seem to grow fond of this place. It's also nice to see creative people here too.
This is one of the 2 studies I made from 2 years ago that I'm willing to share (I covered some parts where it would show my original handle). I wanted to make prints at that time but I haven't pursued it much due to self-doubt.
๏ปฟAnyway, it's nice to meet you! I also hope to meet more artists here in 7cups! ๐
@compassionateOak202
Nice to meet you oak! Your passion for art is really inspiring and I'm glad that you're taking the time to focus on your recovery. It's okay to take a break from things that you love to do in order to take care of yourself. I'm sure that when you're ready, you'll create beautiful pieces of art again.
The piece you shared looks amazing, and I'm glad that you're willing to share it with us. It's natural to have self-doubt sometimes, but please know that your work is appreciated and valued here. We would love to see more of it when you're ready to create and share again! ๐จ
Awww, thank you so much @richuyulin ๐
It's also a pleasure to meet you! And yes, I hope I can also share more of my art here too when I'm ready. I am grateful to be here and be a part of this community ๐.
Hello! Everyone calls me Dee
I work with several mediums since I can't pick just one hobby. I craft, sculpt, paint, and sew. My go-to is acrylic painting.
My favorite artists are Renรฉ Magritte and Bob Ross. Spent many sick days from school watching his shows growing up.
I am currently stuck on a project, trying to get the 'lighting' right in my painting so I've left it untouched for almost a month now. I'll eventually get back to it.
Here's one painting I'm particularly proud of. It was my first time using fluorescent on black. It actually looks amazing under a black light. An accidental surprise.
