Bad habits

23helicopters February 21st, 2023

So recently I've been trying to work on my bad habits that were , and still are negatively affecting my life. I spend way too much time on my phone, have an irregular sleep pattern(sometimes I can get 5 hours of sleep , sometimes 11 hours) , I compare myself so much to others and have a lot of negative self talk. I also daydream ALL THE TIME as a coping mechanism because a lot of pretty bad stuff was going on in my life recently. But i didn't have much success in getting rid of them ๐Ÿ˜• . I would like to have any tips

@23helicopters

getting rid of those probably is not possible almost everyone i know has those habits.....

phones you can be turned off or on silent .. try to be present instead of looking at phone.... small steps

sleep can be difficult but try to set a set time to go to bed.. schedule allowing.... daydreams in moderation can be helpful again in moderation.

the only BAD habits is when you compare yourself and negative self talk .......cut them down to 2

comparing is never successful because often we do not know the backstory ....... the part we do not see... negative self talk has it there right in the name .......NEGATIVE.

i believe we all have things we like about ourselves and when down or feeling less then focus on the best parts....

We're living the same life @23helicopters, i have wasted too much time on my phone b4, and everyday the same thought process went through my head "I'm wasting way too much time in this thing, today I'm definitely gonna delete _____ app" and safe to say, I didn't do it and this kept on looping...

But recently i deleted all those distracting apps without thinking much about it and i can guarantee eventhough not all of the problems are gonna go away, it def helps. So i believe it's only about the matter of breaking that procrastinating cycle, cus once u have removed the apps eventhough u can login through the browser, u Wouldn't, 'cause it's just too much effort.

Now, about the negative self talk, i would say it'll take some time to improve on that... But u can surely hasten it up by reading self help books, philosophy etc...

I've tried to do it with I nstagram but it didn't work. I downloaded it again just a day after. I should try to do this again but I don't think it will work.. but it's cool that it worked for you!

Yeah, I'm rather impatient about this and, well it's true that it takes time to work on this. I'm also not in a good environment to do that because in my class everyone is just so obsessed with looks. It feels like they go to class only to show off their outfits. And it's really easy to start comparing and being negative about yourself in such an environment.

@23helicopters

This sounds like a more extreme version of me.

Take some time off for self-care, lots of it

@23helicopters

I get on average about 6.5 hours of sleep every night.

I have found that going to bed and waking up at the same times every day helps a lot.

Also exercise helps a lot.

And of course avoiding stimulants such as coffee.

Some times white noise or the Tv in the background can help people sleep, listening to music or reading a boring book or journaling are some things that i try to get back to my old sleep behaviors before 1/21/2020 happened
