@MusicCandy @SadMe70 A place to communicate
@MusicCandy Hello! I have to get ready for work but will post more later!
YEA- there you are! I'm only available here on week-ends usually - but good that you got this started. We will check back in soon.
@MusicCandy Hi! I am hoping we can check in most days with each other. We don't have to be here at the same time, just exchange a message here. Would you be able to do that? I need somebody to keep me accountable and motivated to stay on track. Somebody to "report" to about whether I ate well that day and how my exercise is going. I thought I could post here about what I did that day so I know somebody is "watching." Would you be able to check most days just long enough to reply?
What kind of support do you need?
I'm the same way! I also need to have an accountability partner. I work like crazy , mostly nights and staying on track food wise is really hard. I Like healthy food, but often the bad stuff is right out on the counter and I'm usually tired.. not enough sleep chronic. I hope the situation will get better soon, but in the meantime, I would love knowing I have to report to someone. Logging meals just doesn't work for me.
Let me know your goals for the week, or whatever you need and I'll do the same. I can check in Wed/, Fri,Sat,Sun and some other days but those would be consistant . So good to see you here!
It doesn't matter to me - I have a little trouble navigating the different threads - it seems like there are different ones in that room - so which one?
I'll hop over there are find you.
@MusicCandy So here's my Monday check-in. My two worst threats to healthy diet are the junk food (mostly sweets) always around at work, and after dinner. My meals yesterday were all good, and I was good at work. After dinner though, I had my usual chocolate fix but then kept eating whatever I could find and drank too much wine.
Exercise was good. I went to the Y after work.
@SadMe70OHH , the wine gets me too! I've gone back and forth with different cut-back methods ,,, but my currrent plan seems to be working - I'll share more later this evening -So GREAT just to see your post - I'll be back with my updates.
Tuesday check-in. Meals were good, snacking at work not too bad, and nighttime snacking and wine consumption also not too bad!! For exercise I did a 5-min walking workout online in the morning (found this through the Featured Exercise thread in the healthy living forum!) and yoga class after work. My shoulder is killing me but that is nothing new. Depression was getting me Mon night and Tues morning but by Tues mid-morning it was back under control and the rest of the day was good.
So - Monday was fantastic for me. Rainy- so I did a 3 miles walking DVD (Leslie Sansone, I love all her at home walking DVDs)
Then took Rachael to the pool and exercised moderately, 30 min. I actually cooked! Bakes acorn squash and roasted veggies alongside stuffed red peppers - one dish;(stuffed with a little sauteed sausage and garlic and a lot of quinoa and jasmine rice mix) It was so good.
Tuesday- 35 min flexibility DVD and amother pool time with Rachael - 30 min. - plus 20 min. upper arm strength at the gym.
Ate my protein shake both days and was less hungry at noght which is usually my rough time. I do like wine--- a lot-- and yes, snacks are just better after a glass, and then one more .. BUT I am doing better too-.like you.
Here is my most recent strategy for controlling the number of glasses per week. I allow myself 2 bottles per week ( and I can stretch that to 1/2 more if I have a special occasion). That equals out to a healthy amt. for me- and when it's gone- that's it. I tend to go slower in the beginning to allow myself the treat later- and sometime I have one of thise- "just need wine right now" times expecially when I'm tires and still have work to do before bed.
I got my doctor's note from my last visit and my cholestrol is good!!! And it has been borderline for a long time. NOW, if I can just cut out some of those snacks and lose that last 5 lbs.
Wed. , today is good so far but I worked preschool this morning and working 3-11 hospital- so no really good exercise, but I'll do my protein shake for sure. I'll get in some walking.
I'll ck back on you later - Good going- staying the pourse even when you are depressed - that is so hard to pull out of. I'm proud of you.
@MusicCandy
Sounds like you have had a great couple of days! I use a 5 min walking video online that is Leslie Sansone! I really like her too. I sometimes have 10-15 min available in the mornings between feeding my animals and showering before work and that is one of my go-to videos.
Who is Rachael? I used to swim once a week but can't use our Y pool in the summer because of the swim teams, and then the heater broke in Sept and only just got fixed. Also can't swim afternoons, again swim teams hogging it up. I used to always go mornings before my husband hurt his back but now he cannot do animals a couple of mornings so I can go to the Y mornings (my preference). I did get somebody to come on Mondays for a while, so hopefully will get a swim in sometime soon.
Your acorn squash dish sounds delicious! If this is an online recipe can you post the link here? I am always looking for good veggie based recipes and quinoa recipes.
I bought some bison meat recently and hoping to try shepherd's pie with the ground bison. I am off work today to take my husband for back surgery and hoping we get home early enough that I have time to cook something.
Sounds like you got a lot of good exercise both Mon and Tues! Good for you!! I'm so happy to hear that your cholesterol is better! You can lose the last 5!! I am up 8 pounds from my lowest weight this year. I'd like to lose at least 5 as well.
As for late night snacking, I'm not actually hungry. It's more emotional/comfort eating. I need to make myself do something else instead!!
My Wed check-in - good meals again. Evening snacking, had too much chocolate but no other snacks, so at least was better than Monday. I had therapy after work so could not go to the Y. (I think the exercise would do me more good than the therapy!) In the morning at home I did a few abs exercises and about 5 min of intense (for me) cardio. I like Holly Rilinger's videos on Healthy Nation. I never have time for a whole video (not sure I could do a whole one anyway) but I can use pieces of them for whatever time I have, and I find her motivating. I FAR prefer morning exercise to afternoons and miss my 3 mornings a week at the Y. When I have to feed the animals, there just isn't enough time in the mornings. I do love spending time with my animals though (goats and chickens). It is a peaceful way to start the day.
