@Blueberris

*”Whole grain” options Instead of White…

*”Tortilla wraps” or “Lettuce Wraps” instead of bread

*”Monk Fruit” instead of Sweetner or sugar

*Cauliflower Rice instead of regular rice.

These Are just some of the options that I have swapped out & chosen to eat Healthier…. How about you?

@Blueberris

Substituting:

Sugar = Monk fruit or Pyure organic sweetener

White rice = Brown rice

Buns on sandwiches = Lettuce

Ketchup = Mustard only

Mayo = Avocado

meat = All vegetables 2-3 times weekly

Water only

@Blueberris

Some substitutions I'm trying lately are fruit instead of sugar, Raven's Root mocha mate instead of coffee and a soothe drawer instead of self harm where I've got healthy treats both edible and nah like dark chocolate to prevent me from randomly ordering and eating a whole birthday ice cream cake to myself when I'm a Scorpio.

Not that there's anything wrong with eating a whole ice cream cake, or that I still won't do it...just that the soothe drawer is there to help when I'm feeling world weary.

@Blueberris

Hi, Blue,

Yes, all the wheat options instead of white.

I always eat a good bit of fruit.

water

but I also eat lots of frozen entrees because it's easier and cleaner in a roach infested apartment.

Hello! I'm a personal trainer, in my experience with diets the best thing you can do is choose foods that you enjoy eating. Sounds very simple, but a lot of people start dieting by eating very bland "healthy" foods, which often leads them to quit their diet. If you are in a caloric deficit (eating less calories than usual) try adding high-protein foods to your diet, this will help you stay full for longer. Also try swapping foods that you normally eat for healthy alternatives. For example, if you really like peanut butter, perhaps try PB2 (a powder that you add water to to make peanut butter with much fewer calories and fat). Or if you enjoy burgers, look for lean beef, I normally go with 96% lean. I hope this helps 💜

Hi CJ… I’m also a Personal trainer (& the Healthy Living Community Leader here at 7cups)….. thank you for your insights…

I think one term we need to get away from is “Diet”. That term can already be a restrictive word for many! But yes I do believe eating what we like while finding healthier alternatives & options for those things is a better way to go if one is looking to simply eat healthier or be in a calorie deficit. Or as well if they have a particular eating lifestyle such as Vegetarian/Vegan etc..etc… (For instance I don’t eat beef as you mentioned above & prefer Ground Turkey instead).

But I think everyone here who’s commented so far seems to have a good grasp on healthy choices & swaps. I would love to hear what the OP themselves does for healthier alternatives!

Thanks again for stopping by to share.

I eat gluten free, low sugar, low carb.

Lots of veggies, good quality plant derived fats and proteins, and fermented foods.

Eating this way really helps manage my lifelong health conditions and chronic pain. I consider my diet like a medicine I take. (Food is medicine).

It's not easy to stick to it though, especially around holidays. When I don't honor my body's needs, then there's always a cost to pay later.
