Weights we carry and how can we identify them.

How many times do we feel a huge weight on our shoulders to the point of creating muscle tension and we don't even understand very well where this tense and heavy feeling comes from?

In this article we will reflect together on various aspects related to these weights, where they come from, we will understand why, because despite being something emotional, they create physical symptoms and we will seek to find ways to identify and alleviate these burdens.

WHAT ARE THESE WEIGHTS WE CARRY?

They are accumulations of undeveloped issues that generate a physical feeling of weight on the shoulders, this is because the body speaks when we cannot express with words the emotional issues we carry.

Often, the burdens we insist on carrying are not even our own, but there are things that make us feel obliged to carry them, these things can be:

- Fault

- Fear

- Dependency

GUILT AS THE CAUSE OF THE WEIGHTS WE CARRY

Guilt is an element that affects many aspects of life, it often prevents us from fulfilling our dreams, prevents us from solving our past and this certainly generates a huge weight.

We need to understand that guilt is something natural and important for humanity, without it we would have no remorse, but when guilt starts to be central, it becomes something very heavy.

An example of guilt as a factor that forces us to carry burdens is when we feel obliged to deal with other people's problems, often family members, guilt "forces" us to meet people's needs and this generates an expenditure of psychic energy. huge and, consequently, a weight.

FEAR AS THE CAUSE OF THE WEIGHTS WE CARRY

Like guilt, fear is not always a negative thing, it is necessary to feel fear to regulate risk situations and to face life's challenges. The problem is when fear paralyzes a person in situations where it is unnecessary.

Now, imagine a person who has many dreams and goals, but cannot achieve them because he is so afraid. How do you imagine that person might feel? You can certainly develop a feeling of frustration, incapacity, weakness and this ends up generating a feeling of enormous weight.

DEPENDENCE AS A CAUSE OF THE WEIGHTS WE CARRY

When we talk about addiction, we can cover it both in relation to chemical dependencies and emotional dependencies. Both are capable of generating great weight.

Chemical dependencies, that is, addictions to psychoactive substances such as alcohol, drugs, tobacco, are sources of burdens that we carry and make people around us carry, because family and friends end up having to deal with the effects of dependence on living.

Emotional dependencies are even more frequent, feeling emotionally or financially dependent on someone (mother, father, spouse) is something that imprisons the person, prevents freedom and this generates a weight that is very difficult to dissolve.

WHERE DO THE WEIGHTS WE CARRY COME FROM?

So far we understand the factors that make us feel obliged to carry the weights, but where do the guilt, fear, dependence come from? Where do these burdens come from?

The traumas we bring from our childhood greatly influence the way we deal with these issues in adult life. Therefore, the weights we carry originate in the structuring of the personality, that is, in childhood.

The cause of the heavy feeling in the shoulders is subjective, that is to say that each person has different causes according to their life story. But there are some questions that can help identify:

When was the first time I felt like I was carrying a burden?

What feeling comes with it?

With which past and current facts do I relate the weights I carry?

What secondary gain do I have in accepting to carry this burden?

From questions like these, it is possible to reflect on the origin and decide how to deal with it from now on.

Remember: when you change, everything around you changes! 😊

This is honestly such an awesome post. This is so relatable and so important. I never thought that this problem was so intricate and so complex, and the way that you phrased it was so helpful and interesting. Identifying these different sources definitely sounds like the right way to go about fixing the problem 💚 Thank you so much for this post!
