Enhancing Accessibility in the Playground Room! ♿

Hi everyone!

In The Playground Team we want the Playground Room to be a space where everyone can participate and have fun! That’s why we’re introducing game adaptations and a color-coded game classification system to encourage inclusivity.

🔹 Need Adaptations? ♿

If you require adjustments to better enjoy our group games, you can now request them through our accessibility request form. 📋 (clickable)

✅ How does it work?

• Fill out the form once—no need to submit it before each session.
• The Playground Team Leader will review your request and determine which games need adaptations.
• Your personal information will remain private—hosts will only be informed of the necessary adaptations for the games and will take this into account when you join the sessions.
• Processing may take up to 72 hours, so please submit your request in advance! You will be contacted once your request has been processed.
  
  

🔹 Game Classification System 🎲

To help hosts choose games that are more inclusive, we’ve introduced a color-coded system:

🟢 Highly inclusive games. → Easy-to-join games with minimal effort required.

🟠 Recommended games with Minor Adjustments → Generally accessible but may need small modifications.

🔴 Less inclusive games → Games that might be challenging for some participants and require significant adaptation.

💡 Hosts are encouraged to prioritize highly inclusive games to ensure everyone can join in the fun! However, this does not mean that they cannot choose the less inclusive games, as there are also adaptations for the less inclusive games, thus encouraging game variety. At the end of the day, fun is the most important thing in a game, and not just being the best at them.

🔹 Adaptations for Each Game ♿

To ensure a smooth and inclusive experience for all participants, below are the accessibility adaptations that will be applied during the sessions. These adaptations aim to accommodate different needs and enhance engagement with the games.

Below is the list of game adaptations that will be applied from now on:

🟢 This or That → Extra thinking time for those who need it.

🔴 Riddles → Multiple-choice answers, group collaboration, or hints.

🔴 Continue the Story → Allowing shorter responses or using visual prompts.

🟢 Would You Rather? → Simplified or visual options for better comprehension.

🟠 20 Questions → Predefined categories or extra hints for easier guessing.

🟢 Two Truths and a Lie → Providing examples or group brainstorming.

🔴 Word Chain → More response time or a pre-set word list.

🟠 Fill in the Blank → Multiple-choice options or drawing instead of writing.

🔴 One Sentence Story → Extra time and sentence starters for support.

🟠 Alphabet Storytelling → Visual aid with the alphabet and teamwork.

🟢 Wrong Answers Only → Accepting a broad range of responses.

🟠 Opposite Day → Guided examples and alternative word choices.

🔴 Secret Code → Hints or collaborative problem-solving.

🟢 Guess the Acronym → Prompts or example acronyms for inspiration.

🟢 Speed Questions → Slower pace, emoji/single-word responses, or a turn-based approach.

🔴 Emoji Translation → Describing emojis in words or a reference list.

🔴 Letter Limit Challenge → Flexible word limits or suggested word lists.

🟠 Describe It Badly → Example prompts for easier participation.

🔴 Reverse Questions → Example responses to guide players.

🟢 Three Words Only → Allowing slightly longer responses when needed.

🟢 Fake News Headlines → Providing themes for idea generation.

🟠 Movie Mashup → Pre-listed movies or shorter combinations.

🔴 Letter Swap → Verbal swaps or simpler words as a starting point.

🟢 Typo Challenge → Only one or two typos per sentence.

🔴 Rhyming Game → Pre-listed rhyming words for easier play.

🟢 Five-Word Stories → Allowing a few extra words if needed.

🟢 Fantasy Job Titles → Providing example job titles for inspiration.

🟠 Change One Detail → A reference sentence with suggested changes.

🟢 Time Traveler Talk → Pre-listed modern items for easier descriptions.

🔴 Sentence Scramble → Shorter sentences or hint-based assistance.
