Inculcating Inclusivity, Eradicating Exclusivity
At 7 Cups, All are Welcome.
We welcome all who show good conduct, genuinely seek support, and respect community guidelines.
Did you see someone in one of our chatrooms with the following two qualities?
1) Was welcoming to those coming in the room,
2) *Was asking icebreaker so that all may feel included in the chat.
{an icebreaker as simple as 'how is everyone doing?' to as creative as 'what would you do if you were given unlimited cookies?' -select an icebreaker based on the nature and mood of the room!}
*The second point is only when no session or guided discussion is already happening in the room.
Please use this thread to give them a shout-out. If you want to do it creatively, make a graphic for them too!
@Fristo
Icebreakers don't make me feel included. Most of the time it is the opposite as the icebreaker does not relate to me. For example asking what my favorite X is. I honestly don't have many favorites so this leaves me out of the discussion 95% of the time. I saw one in the forums today; What animal would you be if you could be one for a year. I don't want to be an animal and i don't understand why anyone would. We are humans the most developed life form that we know of. Why would I give up the agency that only humans have?
@Gettingbettertoday I believe the thought behind icebreakers is a good one and it's all about intention. ♡ But I couldn't agree more with you because I feel the exact same. The good thing is we are never obligated to answer any icebreaker or question that we don't want. And even if you think differently than others, you're free to always share your thoughts. What I love about you is your ability to be real and open about your feelings on certain things. Thank you for always being true to you and not be scared for voicing your honest opinions. I do want to apologize that icebreakers tend to make you feel not included as the questions may not resonate with or apply to you. Would you mind sharing with us things that could better help you and others who may think as you feel more included? :)
@YourCaringConfidant
My point was not about not feeling i could not post. It was about a system that is geared to certain types of people which i am not part of.
If i am a vegetarian and you offer everyone a hotdog i certainly could eat it but i am not inclined to because that is not who i am. In this analogy everyone else gets to eat except me. Get it?
I am not saying eliminate icebreakers just don't be so dependent on them. Its common to come into one of the chats and guess what ICE BREAKERS, often as a program in itself. Maybe finding something else to make people feel included because ice breakers just leave me feeling left out.
@Gettingbettertoday I understand, thanks for clarifying. Which still brings me to my question if you have any ideas of what that something could be to help everyone feel included? :) The topics of icebreakers are so random that it's really at the discretion of the person answering. Sometimes it's just a way to bring all the participants together in a fun way. :)

Big shout out to the "magnificent" one!
@magnificentNutella
When you joined as a room supporter, Positivity Corner gained one of the most special people I have ever met. You are truly a friend to all you come across and know how to light up the room. Nutella, your qualities are absolutely amazing and that's what makes you the beautiful person you are. You've only been a room supporter for just a couple of short weeks and have done a magnificent job at your role. You, along with the other amazing room supporters, are a great addition to the team.
Thank you for all you do to show kindness and love to all you meet, Nutella. I hope you enjoy your very sweet read. This is for you!
