Mods & Room Supporters Updates February 2023
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well! The Group Support Leaders wanted to update you all with some of the changes we have made within the team and the latest updates.
Activity:
One of our goals as a team is to ensure that we engage within the chatrooms in order to create an enjoyable environment and keep it safe so everyone can feel comfortable participating. In order to achieve that, we need to be active in the chatrooms. By being active, you can create a strong relationship with the members, meet some amazing new users, welcome them and motivate them to engage or even collaborate with other fellow team members. Apart from that, you will understand how we can make the chatrooms a better place for both members & listeners and what updates they would like to see within the rooms.
Monthly Quota:
As for now, in order to keep the role, you have to send 100 messages in the group chats you have selected to be as a Room Supporter/ Mod. We do believe this is something achievable as we all have a full month in order to send the messages and keep the badge. Please keep in mind that failing to meet the quota will result in losing the badge. If you are thinking of taking a self-care break, please make sure you let the Leaders know so we can update your status and reassign you the badge in case it’s lost. If anyone feels this is something not achievable, feel free to message me so we can talk about it and find an agreement, because we want to make sure that you guys have plenty of time to meet the quota and balance your personal life and the roles you have within 7cups.
Team 2023
Since we have a huge team of Room Supporters & Mods it’s really hard for us to private message each one of you in order to figure out who is active, who is on self-care and who is simply inactive. So, I have made a new page on the Dashboard where we will all be able to see the team members, their roles and their status. This won’t only help us to have a clear number of the people within the team and their activity, but it will also be a good way to have a better knowledge of the team members and get to know each other since you will be collaborating with them. I would highly appreciate it if you could go to the Dashboard, click on the “Team 2023” page and add your name and status. You don’t have to fill in the rest, but please make sure to add your name and status. This will give us a better perspective of the activity within the team and the number.
Getting to know each other session:
I know this is something I also talked about in my previous post, but I would like to update you again since many of you were really interested. Unfortunately, I will have to postpone the session for now. That’s because I would like to have a better idea of the clear number of team members and their activity in order to start planning it. However, soon I will update you more on that! I truly can’t wait to get to know you guys more and you meeting your fellow team members! Nevertheless, for now, we have the “Team Hangout’ page on Dashboard where you can communicate with each other.
Updates on the Dashboard:
I have updated the Resources page where you can find really important links that can be really helpful throughout your journey as Room Supporters/Mods. I am still removing and adding new ones every now and then because they get updated every once in a while. If there are any specific links you would like me to add there, feel free to let me know!
I have also added new Scenarios & Protocols to Handle Situations for Room Supporters. If you just became a Room Supporter or Mod I would highly recommend you to read the Scenarios & Protocols to Handle Situations as you can feel more prepared and learn some new tips.
We do try to find ways so there can be better communication between the team members and we are still working on that. For now, however, we have a ‘Team Hangout’ Page where you can write whatever is on your mind/questions/tips/motivating each other etc. You can also respond to other comments so there can be some interaction between us, where we can all communicate!
A very important page has also been added to the Dashboard. On the ‘Message Board’ page, you can find some helpful messages that you can send depending on the situation. For instance, when it comes to sending verbal warnings or what to say when there is a difficult situation. I hope you can find them helpful, I will still keep updating them and adding more stuff, but let me know if you need anything else.
For now, I am working on a new page called ‘Emergecies’ where Room Supporters & Mods will write down some tough situations that took place in the rooms in order to get advice, ask questions about how to handle a specific situation, discuss a tough situation and reflecting on it in order to understand what could have been done differently so we can all improve and generally this will help other Room Supporters & Mods to be aware of those situations or of specific users who are often trying to cause trouble, so they can be aware when they enter the rooms and how to act in case of an emergency. More information will be provided in the following updates since this is still something that needs to be worked on, but I am open to any feedback!
Quiz:
I am so happy to see the results of the quizzes our Room Supporters & Mods took! I am glad to see that you are aware of your role as a Room Supporter/Mod and the responsibilities you have! It’s great to see that our Room Supporters & Mods can face any challenging situation within the rooms while keeping a professional and respectful attitude towards all members and maintaining a safe environment in the room, while also acting successfully on the issue. Soon, I will post the new quiz in order to see the progress and maybe a few areas that we can help you to improve on! If you have any questions regarding the quizzes, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Become a Mod Mentor
Every week our little family is growing and we have new amazing additions to our team! Since there are a lot of new Room Supporters & Mods, I have decided to give the opportunity to Mods who are experienced with the role to become a Mods/Room Supporter’s Mentor! You will be helping new Room Supporters or Mods to get accustomed and used to their new role! If you are interested, you can apply here!
Sharing Circle:
As you might already know, our wonderful Leader @Lou73 is working really hard on updating the Sharing Circle Room! Lou has created a new Sharing Circle Host Basic Training! If you are interested to host members' Sharing Circle Session, you will have to complete a short training before you can host a session! You can find the application form here (link). For any questions you might have, please message @Lou73 (Adults) or @ASilentObserver (teens). Our amazing Leader, Lou, is also launching a new buddy scheme for the Sharing Circles! If you are a Group Support Moderator, you can team up with an assigned host to keep the chatrooms a safe place and ensure that members can share their thoughts and feelings in a supportive space! This will be a great opportunity to engage more in the chatrooms, meet new members and also get to know them! Your role will be really important as you will have to team up with the host and be responsible to keep the chatrooms safe and interruptions to a minimum, so members can share in a supportive space.
Thank you so much for all the support you have given to the team, and we are super excited to keep you updated about future plans and goals. We would love to say a huge thank you to all Room Supporters & Mods for making this team so amazing and keeping the chatrooms a safe and enjoyable place for everyone! If you have any questions or would like to inquire further about these updates, please feel free to reach out to me and I would be more than willing to talk to you!

@ASilentBunny Thank you for these wonderful and helpful updates Bunny!
@ASilentBunny
I could be wrong but I don’t think I have access to the dash?
Thanks for all this good information!
@ASilentBunny Thanks Bunny!
I have a quick question. How is the new role 'Mod Mentor' different to the role of Support Team Leader (STL) or badge Support Team Mentor (STM) badge?
Listening - One Step At A Time!
Hello @MistyMagic So Mod Mentors or Room Supporters'/Mods' Buddies will be assigned with a new Room Supporter or new Mod so they can help them to get used to their role! Since they have experience moderating the chatrooms they can share some tips or collaborate with them in the rooms so they can show them how they personally handle some situations and help them get accustomed to the role. So generally, they are just there to answer a few questions the new team members might have and show them how to use the dashboard etc... While STLs coordinate with room supporters & mods to schedule events, and discussions and figure out ways to build up the team. I hope that helps otherwise feel free to message me!
@ASilentBunny I understand the role of STL, and it is great that the group support team is looking to offer more help to new room supporters and chatroom moderators. Room supporters in particular definitely need more support whilst they gain experience and knowledge, sometimes this really can put a strain on the STL or CML.
Listening - One Step At A Time!
Thanks for the update :D
