PAT Activity Post

December 17th, 2021

Hi PAT and anyone reading this!

PAT stands for Peer Appreciation Team!

We are a growing team of Peer Appreciation Program, growing not only in number but in connection amongst one another as team members!

We are one of the best peers you could find in a team!

Introducing this activity for especially the PAT members..

  1. Pm a fellow team member (if you are in the same age group or if one of you is ATL) with an icebreaker to get to know them.

  2. Secondly, ask about how their time has been at cups recently.

  3. Thirdly, ask them about what they like as a PAT Member.

  4. Feel free to share some cookies with them! 🍪🍪

  5. If you are not in the same age group, or unable to pm one another, or prefer to break ice in forum first, feel free to use this thread to ask an icebreaker to any team member alongside tagging them.

Let’s be doing this activity amongst team members and feel more connected and united as a team!

Any team member may feel free to get to know a fellow team member more using the above steps! [Team members list could be found on the Home sheet of the team dashboard!]

Hi hi friends and teammates! Exciting news, your role on the team is now *drumroll please*

Up to you!

What’s your role on the team? What role do you want to play?

Let me explain :p

Role theory is the idea that we take on norms and expectations for our roles. For example, a parent might feel that they’re unsure of what to do, or that they should or should not act or speak a certain way.

“Project Agent,” or “Team Member,” can be really unspecific. What does a “PA” do exactly?

By naming your role on our team, you can define the part you play and remind you of your place in the team :) We’re all vital players in spreading appreciation and positivity!

This activity is optional, but I invite you to get creative and name your spot on the team. Here are some questions that might help:

  • What is your favorite thing about your role?

  • What do you find yourself drawn to that you maybe haven’t tried yet?

  • When you think of the Peer Appreciation Program, what comes to mind?

I’m very excited to hear your thoughts and new role names! Let’s get specific about what we love doing <3

@WarmLightXO

Woohoo, this is exciting indeed, Elliot. 😮❤

  • What is your favorite thing about your role?

I like the Joy this brings to the community. ❤

On a more specific note though lol :P I enjoy making the graphics, and helping in the background work to continually improve the program.

  • What do you find yourself drawn to that you maybe haven’t tried yet?

I have tried hosting sessions and I enjoy hosting them too, sadly am not able to commit much to hosting lately due to time constraints and other factors ooof, but I hope to host sometime soon again.

  • When you think of the Peer Appreciation Program, what comes to mind?

The many smiles, brighter days, the feeling of gratitude and sense of satisfaction, to name some haha!

Looking forward to what everyone says. ❤ Feel welcome to answer these prompts too, Elliot. 😛

Hmm, so maybe you're a background bliss bringer XD

  • What is your favorite thing about your role?

I love the impacts it has on my personal life, I get more positive, sunny, and appreciative every day <3 I spend a lot of time in chatrooms and with scripts, so I've considered the name chatroom cheerleader

How can an appreciation culture change lives? And what more we can do to build this appreciation culture at 7cups via our peer appreciation program?

Master @Fristo my answer! :D

How can an appreciation culture change lives?

I believe that appreciation is whatever someone needs at the moment it is given. For someone who's scared to speak in public, it's a reminder that what they say matters and can encourage more people when you tell them you appreciate their effort and time. For someone whose parents just got divorced, it's a blanket of support that lets them know they are never alone in their struggle when you tell them that you appreciate how strong they are being despite the struggles. It's a hug to that friend who just broke up with the love of their life when you tell them you appreciate how courageous they are to finally break away from something that isn't making them happy anymore. It's an offer of a truce to the person who did you wrong when you tell them that you appreciate their honesty and their humility for admitting their mistakes and asking for your forgiveness.

Appreciation culture changes many lives because there is no one way to appreciate someone. Like the most beautiful of smiles, we all have our version that we give and that we need :)

And what more we can do to build this appreciation culture at 7cups via our peer appreciation program?

- Including appreciation in scripts across 7Cups. (if it isn't done yet) Ex: When ending a chat, we can add "I appreciate you trusting me today/spending time with me today."

- Set the tone as early as the sign-up process whether it's for a Listener account or a member account and include these in the questions: (what do you appreciate most about yourself? your family? the people around you? your current situation?)

- Start a movement called "I appreciate what I have/where I am in life and so I'm paying it forward". We do good deeds in the name of 7Cups as thanks for all the appreciation and grand experience so we do our part in our own corners of the world in celebration. Our very own appreciation army.

- Make our own badges and award them to whoever we want to. While I'm so in love with how we earn badges in our programs and across our platform, having a badge specifically made for someone we want to appreciate makes it more personalized. Also, the effort it will take to create those badges will make it more meaningful because it will be a labour of love. <3

- I was playing with the idea of a "For You" thread and the concept goes like this: we think of situations we can either relate with or any situation we often encounter around here in 7Cups or in our daily lives. We encourage our peers and members to showcase their talent by appreciating those who are still anonymous. So how do we do this? For example, I'm a writer. I feel like writing a short freeform poem for people who has someone close to them cross over (die). So my post would be like this: "I dedicate this poem to those who just lost a loved one to the cosmos. I know your pain and I know what it's like to have that void that nobody or no one can fill. This poem is for you." It can be a picture we've taken that inspired a smile from us, a favourite song that got us through a rather difficult time, or a famous quote from a celebrity, film, or book that we love.

Of course, these are only if we haven't had any of those yet :D

@CosmicMiracle

Such amazing ideas, Cosmic. I love these. ❤

How do we "create" the badges though? :o (the actual badge creation is only possible through dev team, I think, and it takes approvals etc to get them to make one lol), it'll be actually pretty cool if this was possible lol, I'd like a "heart fairy" badge haha! xD

*however* there's also something like "imaginary" badges, a very wholesome concept, I feel. Check out SparkyGizmo's profile, they've listed their badges in the bio, under the "proud recipient of...". ❤ (@SparkyGizmo with the bestest ideas alwaysss)

We can do something like that too, for sure! Or anything else in your super tech-savvy, creative and brilliantly thoughtful mind, aye?

@GlenM

Hi Good Day Sunshine! 😊❤️ Woooo hooooo! Many thanks "Spidey Twin" 😊. Thank you for the tag, for😊 remembering me (me coming to mind) as well as using my profile page as the example of how this can be done! ❤️ I agree! This is an incredibly wholesome concept!😊❤️😊

While badges given to us from 7 cups are so exciting, very nice and I am truly grateful for each and every one of them, @CosmicMiracle has felt something in their heart that many of us here on 7 cups have felt as well! ❤️

Good Day Sunshine, you soooo rock the house my friend! You do not miss a beat! *high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

Hi Cosmic! 😊❤️ I read your contributions to this forum post and I must say, they all are nothing short of amazing! I loved reading everything you had to say and I enjoy your "mindset". Wayyyyyyy cool!

While I loved so many things that you said, Good Day Sunshine tagged me for a reason and it's specifically for the "imaginary badges". Imaginary badges make my heart sing! These are badges of honor given to one another, teammate to teammate for a job well done. For exhibiting something, something noteworthy, something special that one person see's in another! ❤️ It's beautiful, that all on your own, you have felt this in your heart already of wanting to create badges for others.

As Good Day Sunshine mentioned, you have options! 😊 Feel free to create any badge you would like and gift it to another! If one would like, the recipient of your special badge could proudly display it on their profile page, just as I have done to honor, respect, appreciate the kindness that has been given to me. No bit of kindness is ever lost on me my friend. I am so grateful for each and every one of those badges and am so grateful for each teammate that gifted me with theirs. ❤️ I am so grateful for my teammates and their opinion of me truly matters! ❤️❤️❤️

Our founder, Glen (aka O.G. 😊) has referred to us as a "gift giving society". He see's it, he feels it. We all have gifts that we can give to one another! We can share of ourselves, our time, treasures and talents and in a variety of different ways. He doesn't just see "outside of the box", the best compliment I could give to him is that he "see's inside the box" 😊 aha! Now we really have something now don't we? lol

I love the fact that you are wanting to give gifts to others and I feel like this is what Glen would like to see all of us doing. "Imaginary badges" are a beautiful sentiment. ❤️Sometimes I also like to share a song with others, give someone a very special and sweet nickname, appreciate them in pm's, in the forum areas, in the group rooms as well as nominating them for badges that we have at our disposal by going to ones profile page, scrolling down, clicking on the orange button for "nominate for a badge". So many ways we can be kind to one another! As listed on my profile page "Kindness matters always". *high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

Hi Frito! 😊❤️(I did not misspell screen name, it's an intentional nickname everyone) 😊❤️ Don't think that I forgot about you my dear friend! Thank you for creating this forum post! Thank you for being what I call a "change agent" here on our community, creating change in a positive direction! You have created other options for us here and one of which is the peer appreciation program. 😊❤️

Would you please consider dropping the link here for appreciating a peer so it will give Cosmic even more options?

Frito, also, could you also include the link for another program that you have created to provide feedback and ideas for administration to consider. Perhaps Cosmic might want to fill in that form and have some ideas for creating new badges for all of us?

*high fives* 😊 and *hugs*❤️

@SparkyGizmo

Aww ofcourse I did, Spidey Twin aka Sparkyyy Sparkkk, you're always in my thoughts and so are the many ways you spread kindness around. I agree wholeheartedly, there's a plethora of options one can be kind to another person here, it's really not that hard Haha. Thankyou for being super duper kind, considerate, uplifting, supportive and warm always, your presence alone is an act of kindness for this world, you know(?) And I can only be grateful to bask in your radiantly sparkling shine. *biggest hugs* and *high fives* back 🤗❤

Alsooo, do you refer to these posts? ❤

I agree, @fristo is just phenomenal in all their initiatives for this place, they take the whole idea of "making 7 cups a better, brighter, happier place for all" quite literally haha. ❤

Hi @Fristo,

How can an appreciation culture change lives?

I deeply believe that an appreciation culture can change lives, making them, fulfilling, satisfying, and full of kindness and warmth.

Appreciation helps us see good in others, which also helps us see good in ourselves. It can give one value, make them notice their strengths and gifts.

And what more we can do to build this appreciation culture at 7cups via our peer appreciation program?

By doing exactly what we are doing. Consistency is a key, we validate, appreciation, celebrate intentions and efforts, not only the outcomes.

How can an appreciation culture change lives?

- An appreciation culture provides the same validation and empathy as Active Listening, but with even more well-deserved acknowledgement for the people we are appreciating

And what more we can do to build this appreciation culture at 7cups via our peer appreciation program?

- I agree that remaining consistent in our current efforts are steps in the right direction, as the team grows so will the creativity of how we spread more appreciation. Our consistency will show our sincerity

@magicalOcean594 Appreciation culture is where people appreciate one another! Appreciation comes off as natural behaviour to them, as they get into the habit of seeing good in one another.
