Trigger Warning My family member protected a wealthy rapist and got a huge pay

My relative is a public prosecutor and a part time lawyer for a political party and its top leader in india. Recently he defended and quashed the rape case against the Member of Legislative assembly where he raped 5 girls, underage, in his farmhouse. All were daughters of farmers.

He got a case dismissed on the basis of lack of evidence. Certainly he had upper hand for his client as his dad is ex-CBI, ex-RAW agent. CBI is India's FBI and RAW is India's CIA.

I know his client actually did it because my relative knows he actually did it and poor farmers couldn't do anything.

I don't know what to feel about this. My relative got $173,000 USD as a pay. He also got $50,000 USD pay when his client's son crushed two homeless people under his Toyota Land cruiser in 2021.

Now my relative says that he'll fund half the tuition cost of my university with this money because his son is already 24 and he always thought of me as his another son

@ApurvaSingh123 what a terrible story, I'm really sad to hear it, although not surprised. Rapists get away so often, particularly if they're wealthy and influential, and victims don't get justice.
You had no part in this, but I get why you're upset that someone in your family had a role in making him get away with his crime. As for your tuition, if you don't feel comfortable with receiving the money he made that way, you can donate part of all of it to a charity that support victims of gender violenze and SA. It won't change the past, but you can try and make a difference in the future.

@AaylaThese farmers low key deserve this because they'll always elect a criminal from same caste rather than electing a good person who's not a criminal, just because he's not from same caste

@ApurvaSingh123 what do you mean they deserve this? Surely you don't mean that they (or anyone) deserve to be victims of sexual abuse?

@AaylaI meant that they elected a criminal and therefore should be mentally prepared to face consequences.

Nobody deserves torture. But when you throw acid on your own hand then nobody is to blame except for you
